Mia's POV

July 16th

It was a normal sunny day. Everyone was outside. Since it was mid-July most people, especially parents, took a couple of weeks off to go on a holiday or spend time with their family. The air was filled with joy.
Or perhaps not, but it seemed like that. Atleast to me. Maybe it was because I didn't have school for the next two months and honestly I planned on enjoying that as much as I can.
So I wanted to do something exciting. Something I don't do often.

But what? It seemed like there were countless ideas and yet I couldn't think of one.
Do I go sky-diving? Or will I shit my pants? Do I go explore some jungle? No, that's absolutely ridiculous. Do I visit all the museums possible in some country with a lot of history? That would be cool, not gonna lie. But my parents would never let me.
Do I climb the highest peak of a mountain by my choice?

DO I RIDE AN EMU IN AUSTRALIA WITH THE CAST OF FRIENDS AND-

-"Mia, come downstairs."- my mum yelled from the kitchen.

I quickly grabbed my phone that was sitting beside me and went downstairs.

-"Yes, mum?"

-"Honey" - she said, while doing the dishes -"Do you have plans for today? Or for the next week or two?"

-"No...not yet. Why?"

-"Well I got myself a really good job offer and I have to go get interviewed."

-"Oh, that's great mum. I'm happy for you."

-"Yeah, one more thing... "

She suddenly stopped washing the dishes. She dried her hands with the towel standing over the sink and looked directly at me.

-"It's all the way in Nevada. That's where the interview will take place."

My eyes widened. I crossed my arms in disbelief. That's a whole ass different state.

-"Why can't you just take me with you?"

Her expression changed. She looked suprised by my words.

-"What would you do there for a week straight? I won't have time to go anywhere with you. This is a bussiness trip, not a holiday!"

This made me really mad. I understood that she had to go there for business purposes, but we never go anywhere. I can't remember the last time we went
on a normal holiday together. If that ever took place, of course. This was my only chance to spend some quality time with her.

She saw my frustration and sighed.

-" Look, you can use my car. I won't need
it there."

-"OH!"

"Okay nevermind. This is MUCH better."- I thought to myself.

I got excited and hugged her really tightly.

-"Oh, thank you, thank you, thank you!"

She smiled from the sudden affection I gave her and hugged me back.

-"You're welcome, Mia. But if anything happens to it, you're dead."

I laughed and jokingly rolled my eyes.

-"Don't worry, I'll be careful. So when are you leaving?"

-"Tomorrow at around 7:00 AM."

-"Well that's early. Do I have to wake up to send you there?"

-"Well you're not obligated to. But I think it would be nice if you do. After all, you won't be seeing my beautiful face for a whole week. Not to mention I'm your mother."
