Ruben, who had been prepared for a sour and perhaps hysterical argument about how he couldn't keep a leash on his emotions for even just once, was acquainted with an automatic stovetop firestop magnet with a tiny red ribboned chocolate moose and a bouquet of frosting and blonde tulips he paused to illegally pick from a protected private farm property. If they didn't want anyone to nibble around it, they wouldn't flare the scent out in the open right by the road, he justified his actions to himself. Plus he was desperate to put an end to the ill-fated start of his day. He didn't want to be back to the only place which was his and feel like he was invading it.

Ruben gently pushed the front door open, entering the foyer, dubious in every careful step he took, untangling all the presents and apology he bought for her on the wooden slab hinged to the wall to peel off the coat and neatly hung it on the bamboo coat rack.

He never hung his coat neatly, he was always in a hurry to rush onto the couch and kick off his shoes. But now he knew he was guilty. He had gotten himself reminded of that in every little thing he did. The hypnotic music played in the drawing-room and Lilith's sweet voice laced through the openings, lulling to Marci. It could put Ruben to sleep without any bother of losing it as it always rang within his dreams too. She seems better. I hope. He mentally crossed his fingers.

He gleefully pretended and evidently spied through the open door of the dining. Lilith always kept it open to make sure she hears the door to be cautious. Lilith was already looking ahead towards the door, to confirm herself of Ruben. She had a blank look looming on her face while she sang to Marci taking up three fourth of the couch while she softly patted on Marci's back to validate her presence. Ruben parted his lips and raised his throat to call her out but got immediately shut by Lilith's fingers strictly gesturing to zip his mouth.

Ruben got mildly satisfied thinking to himself how she was at least on terms to do that to him. Ruben started to now calculate where Lilith's feelings stood. He knew he could the least go up to her, and manage to convince her.

He numbingly walked towards her, gently placing himself on the couch next to Lilith. A look of apology, thickly palpable on his face and gestures. Which was barely disregarded, rather not seen at all by Lilith.

" I have something for you. Come with me " Ruben mouthed, gesturing her to get off the couch as if he spoke to the deaf.

Lilith sat idle, making sure to look away from Ruben's nuance. She looked straight ahead into fixed onto the void or back at Marci, nonchalantly brushing her fingers through Marci's bob rough hair.

Ruben knew she had to act hard to get for the start, and he knew how to break that. Even though he thought he had crossed her boundaries, Lilith was the most forgiving earthling he knew of. He knew she had already forgiven him. He knew she had to be hard on him. This time she was hurt more than ever. Hence, it was only right and he was ready to take it. He knew deeply that Lilith was the only victim here. He couldn't make this about himself.

He rose her hand tenderly in his, up to his lips and fairly patted sweet pecks onto her petite hand. It hung loosely until Ruben felt it stiffen into his. He knew she was trying to stop herself from dissolving into his affection.

Lilith looked away and her hand stayed in his without protest, even though it was as if a nasty stranger held it, but every part of her senses allowed to be touched by his action.

" come on, let me love you " he tried to warmly convince her.

It didn't take long, Lilith was far more forbearing to hold it against him and waste a minute over something she could tell was genuine from him.

She detached the tension she gathered from Ruben's presence, and whispered lowly,

" what do you want? ", she retorted still facing ahead.
