History will always repeat

Any minute now it would happen, Jack would be brought to his family and they would want him to stay but he would never be able to, he would only be there to fight face to face with Henry Miller. He wouldn't be able to stay with his family, they would have to go on without him and he would continue his job here. They'd be okay and he would be too, he would keep helping people here and helping them get what he never could and his family would move on and be okay. Sure he'd always be in pain but eventually they'd all forget him. They'll all move away from his memory.

Jack felt faint, he'd be there to face them soon, he'd be there to protect them. He would keep them safe. He had power now and he was strong and he could do it. He'd do it for his brother Peter, his sister Dee, his old annoying boss Steven that he still loved just as much and most importantly, he would protect Dave, William, his boyfriend who he'd give the world for. He'd save him from his trauma from Henry.

Jack stole a glace at the reddened sky above him having been staring at the floor to find that it was being blocked by a white light that would take him to the afterlife.

He was afraid, where would he be put in their afterlife? What did it look like? What did it feel like? Was it warm, cold? Somewhere between?

The light swallowed him up as he was brought from the flipside to the afterlife.

Dave was chatting relaxed with Steven in the kitchen, Peter reading a book at the table when he heard a loud wind sound and a louder bang. All three were started beyond belief, Dave having even screamed a little. Peter jumped out of his seat to go check what it was with Steven and Dave following close behind.

Peter stopped dead in his tracks just before crossing the threshold into the living room gasping and stumbling back a few steps. Without a second thought Dave pushed past to figure out what was going on, then he saw it, a glowing and impossibly tall figure kneeling on the floor of their living room. The person seemed familiar and Dave couldn't place it until they turned their head to look up at him.

Jack!

"Jack!?" Dave shouted as he hit the floor running over to his boyfriend.

"Dave..." Jack's voice came low and echoed with a face of sad glowing eyes devoid of pupils or irises that looked to be constantly leaking golden tears. His hair seemed to be the very same shape and hue of the setting sun, a mellow hazy orange-yellow with a gentle crown of gold that made him seem important. His clothes looked like he was straight from a greek mythology book or statue, royal and flowed perfectly, pristine and white.

Dave tackled him to the floor with a hug as his body shook with sob, he was just so happy to see Jack it was like he had been holding his breathe since that last moment in the void with Dave. It hurt both of them so much to part ways but deep down both knew they had no choice, even if Dave stayed in the void there with Jack forever they wouldn't have been happy. Neither truly were happy even so, Jacks heart still ached at the mere mention or thought of Dave. Dave cried every single night in that nostalgic replica of Jack's bedroom, he wished silently every night that he'd wake up and be beside Jack again, holding him with a loose arm as both stirred awake not yet ready to face another day instead opting to just lay there in peace in each others arms in mess of blankets and limbs. Dave missed Jack and Jack missed Dave.

"You- You look a little different than I last saw you..?" Dave said softly, not trying to come off as insulting but still trying to lighten the mood. In Dave's opinion he would say that he always imagine Jack like this, glowing and golden with ethereal beauty and presence like that of the sun.

"It's um- It's a long story but the most important part is what I'm going to tell you right now, I can explain the rest later." Jack said, gently lifting Dave off his chest.
