"Damn," Adam muttered, loud enough for Agent Rouge to hear.
"Miss Riveira," the boss said. "These are Adam Green and Theodore Evermore." He pointed to both boys respectfully. "They will train you to become an agent."
"Wait, we have to train her?!?" Theodore didn't mean to raise his voice. Well, maybe he did, but nobody drinks from his mug.
The boss glared at Theodore. "Is there a problem, Theodore?" His voice was filled with warning.
Adam shoved Theodore under the table. "Theo, man, shut up," he whispered to Adam.
Theodore inhaled. "May we discuss this in private?"
The boss looked around. "We're in my office. That's about as private as it can get."
"I meant without 'Miss White' over here."
"Hey!" Camila complained. "I'm Latina! That's racist!"
"Your agent code is 'Agent Blanche'," Theodore tried to explain calmly. "'Blanche' means white in French."
"Alright, 'Mr. Know-It-All'."
Theodore rolled his eyes.
"Alright," the boss said. "I'll give you five minutes to discuss this with Mr. Green. Five minutes only."
Theodore nodded and pulled Adam outside, much to Adam's dislike. Once they were outside of the room, Theodore shoved Adam's arm away and crossed his arms.
"Man, what is your problem?!" Adam asked his co-worker.
"Adam, she's a girl," Theodore said.
"Yeah," Adam swooned. "I noticed. She's hot, ain't she?"
Yes, a part of Theodore's conscience said.
No, she isn't, shut up, the other denied.
Theodore shook his head, causing his conscience to shut up. "I don't think you heard me well, she's a girl."
"I don't think you heard me well." Adam shoved Theodore's chest slightly. "She's hot. I'm straight."
"Sure you're straight," Theodore spoke sarcastically. "And I'm the Grinch."
"You're acting like the Grinch," Adam muttered.
The boss' head peeked from the room. "Three more minutes, agents."
As soon as his head poked back inside, Adam said, "Come on, Theo. If we don't work with her, the boss will be mad and he won't give us a raise."
"But she's a girl!"
"And you're sounding really sexist right now!"
"You don't understand. This goes against our whole organization!"
"Things can change! If the boss brought her here, it's because she's good. He doesn't even bring his own wife and daughter here!"
"Or maybe, he brought her here because she's eye candy."
"So you admit she's hot?"
"God, yes, I admit she's hot! Is that what you wanted to hear?"
Adam smirked. "Mhm. I'm gonna set ya'll up."
"Please don't. Boss will fire us."
"So you're in?"
Theodore sighed. "Fine."
Adam cheered.
"But with one condition, "Theodore interrupted Adam's happy dance. "It must be professional. So no setups, dating or kissing, and absolutely no babymaking. Understood?"
Adam saluted. "Yes, sir, yes."
Theodore let out a slight chuckle. "Alright, let's go inside."
They walked inside to see Camila sitting at the table. The boss looked at them through his black bangs.
"Have you made your choice?" he asked the boys.
Theodore and Adam looked at eachother. Adam's chocolate eyes gleamed like a little kid behind his poker face. He nodded at Theodore's angry face. Theodore's hazel eyes showed no interest at all. He sighed and with an eye roll he said:
"We're in."
