It's nighttime.
I can't sleep.
I toss and turn.
My eyes stare into the empty darkness.
What was that?!
Oh, laughter
Mitch's?
Why? It's like 1:00 am?
I throw off the covers.
And sneak down the hall.
Shhh.
Don't make a noise.
The floor creaks beneath me.
Dang.
I freeze.
I don't think they heard me.
I spot Mitch's room.
The door is cracked.
Lights are off.
I hear laughter, again.
Scott's.
Could it be?
It sounds like it's coming from Mitch's room.
I hear their mumbled voices.
I creep into Scott's room next door.
No one.
Yep. They're both in Mitch's.
I stay close to the wall.
And inch closer to his door.
Made it.
Now if I can just quickly take a peek and...
OHMYGOSH.
I hold my hand over my mouth.
Don't gasp.
I pull myself away from the crack and slide back against the wall.
Quickly and quietly.
I slip back into my room.
Fall onto my bed.
I lay there.
Wide-eyed.
It can't be.
