As Lanie walks through the school doors, she stumbles over an outstretched leg. "Ow" she winces. She looks up. Of course it's Teresa and her gang. She used to be her best friend, but ever since 6th grade Teresa had been become more and more popular, and Lanie was left friendless and alone. Now Teresa just bullied her with the rest of her "squad".
"You're so clumsy Lanie, you always trip over thin air!" Lanie hears Teresa sneer.
"Can you please just let me get to literature class, I'm going to be late!" She pleads.
Lanie can see her about to say something mean, and she braces herself. But right as Teresa's mouth opens, Lanies favorite teacher walks past them. "How are you girls today?" Mrs. Reed asks sweetly. "Amazing! Thank you so much for asking!" Teresa replies in a voice dripping with artificial honey. "Well, I guess I'll see you all in math class later! Don't be late to your next class," Mrs. Reed says with a wink.
As soon as she walks away, Chelsea(Teresa's best friend) takes that opportunity to shove Lanie into the lockers beside them. "Bye sweetie!" Chelsea says with menace.
Finally, Lanie thought, I can finally get away from them.
She walks to first period with a heavy heart and bruised shoulder from the locker. As she sits down in the back of the room, she notices someone outside in the hallway. Someone VERY attractive.
Lanie walks out to the hallway, pretending to nonchalantly get a drink of water. As she leans down towards the water, she glances at the boy.
She watches as his friends embrace him, saying "Reo! How was your trip?" And other greetings are shouted out to him.
Reo. So that's his name, Lanie thought to herself. If she was going to start Mission Love, then she had to be prepared. She decided she would start with getting to know him better. But she forgot about one thing, a fact that might ruin her plan: Lanie sucked at talking to guys.
