Cannes

I wake up to the sound of knocking on my hotel door. I am currently in Cannes, France for the Cannes Film Festival. I am going to promote my most recent film, Dune, which will be played as one of the featured films at the festival. I am going with my co-star Timothee, who is one of my best friends. I am really nervous about this event, which is normal because I still have not adjusted to life in the public eye even though it's been over 4 years now.

This will be my first event since publicizing my break-up with Cara Delevingne. We are still friends but we had been forced into the relationship for publicity and because of all the publicity, there was too much pressure on our relationship. We would fight all the time because we had different goals, she was very public about our relationship and I hate the paparazzi and want to keep things private.

I roll out of bed and get to the door and am greeted by my manager, Kate, and my stylist, Jenna, and her team of makeup artists and hairstylists.

"Y/N, so good to see you gorgeous! I am so excited to show you what we have prepared for you today." My stylist says as she embraces me in a hug.

"I am so excited to see what you have too. You always blow it out of the water." I say before quickly introducing myself to the rest of her team and saying hello to my manager.

I assist them to the large bathroom where they set everything up while I quickly change into jeans and a hoodie. I throw on some shades and grab my purse and phone before heading out to get coffee with Kate while they set up.

"So Y/N how are you feeling about today?" Kate asks as we sit down at a table in the back of the cafe.

"I'm excited, but I'm also really nervous because this is my first big event without Cara since we announced our breakup. Everyone is so upset by it and the paparazzi is so much worse now. Everyone thinks we're on a break since we were together for 2 years and did everything together but I want to move on." I tell Kate as she is probably the person that knows me best.

"I know, and I'm proud of you for not hiding away. This is definitely hard but just know that your happiness is the most important part of all of this. Even if it makes both of our jobs harder." She says making me chuckle.

"What if people don't actually like me they just liked me as part of the lesbian power couple Cara and I represented?" I ask as a frown takes over my face.

"You are so talented and I promise that you have a really strong fan base. I know that we can rebuild your brand and that you will come out of this stronger than before. Trust me, I'm good at my job and you've got the charm and smile to spin anything." She says making me smile "See there, with that smile you can get anything you want." She says immediately boosting my confidence. We drink our coffees and get bagels for the rest of the crew before heading back to the hotel, now feeling much calmer about tonight.

We walk into my room and head to the bathroom where there are hundreds of makeup products laid out and a bag hanging on the door that must have my dress in it. I walk over to the bag and go to open it when Jenna jumps in front of me "Hey, it's a surprise remember. You told me complete creative freedom and I don't want you to see it yet."

"Ugh, please, can't I just have a peek?" I whine but she just shakes her head no and grabs the bag taking it out to the living room. She returns and says "Now, you need to shower so we can get started."

I hop in the shower and then change into some loose sweats before letting the team in to start on my look. I sit in the chair for what feels like forever until they are finally done with my hair and makeup. Now I finally get to see the dress... which is absolutely gorgeous.
