The Fight

It had been 5 days since Keith and Caden's encounter in the ASB room. They had both been avoiding each other which was hard on both of them since they were such good friends. One day Cameron had called an important work day for after school so they could set up for spirit week. Once everyone showed up he said, "Okay I need 2 volunteers to go around the school and hang up some of the spirit week posters" Keith and Caden's hands went up, unaware that the other one did so.

"Okay Keith and Caden." said Cameron

Both of there eyes widened as they listened to the rest of the instructions. They hadn't spoken in days, and now they have to walk around school together and hang up posters alone? They thought of backing out before getting started but it was too late and everyone started doing what they were assigned. They both got up, grabbed a pile of posters, and headed outside. They made there way to the 600's building when Caden asked, "Hey, have you been avoiding me?"
"No. I've been busy with...swim." Keith said putting a poster on the wall.
"It's winter time dude, I know you don't have swim." Caden said a bit annoyed.
"Well then I've just been busy." said Keith
Caden began to fumble with the tape for a bit when he said, "Look if this is about what happened in the ASB room-"
"No it's not about that. That was just an 𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒎𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕 kind of thing I get it." Keith said cutting him off.
They continued to hang up posters when Caden says, "I just feel like you're mad at me and I want to know what I did"
"I'm not mad at you okay. Can we drop this?" Keith said looking at him for a second and then looking away. He sounded upset.
"Then why haven't you been talking to me?" Caden scoffed.
"Because Caden!" He yelled. "If you haven't noticed I like you okay? I like you a lot and have for a while now. And I know that you're str-...." He began to tear up but quickly finished his sentence, "It's just better this way." They had hung up all the posters and Keith turned around, quickly walking back to the ASB room. All of a sudden Caden yelled, "Keith wait..."
He turned around, still a bit upset and sighed, "What?"
Caden began to walk towards him, moving faster and faster with each step. Once he got in front of his face he grabbed the back of Keith's head and pressed his lips against his. It felt great. A new sensation neither of them had felt before, rushed over them. Keith slowly pulled away and smiled, looking into Caden's eyes. "Did you just-"
"Yeah. Yeah I did." He responds. They both laugh a bit and decide to head back to the ASB room incase people start wondering where they are.
"So... are you my-"
"Yes Keith Matthews. I am your boyfriend" Caden says with a smile.
"I wonder how we're going to tell everyone." says Keith
"Eh who care about them. Let's just enjoy this..." He says grabbing Keith's hand, "We can worry about them later."
They walked back feeling something they hadn't felt in a long time. Hopeful.
