It' s not really fair for us to call ourselves ugly. Because we have never seen ourselves when we are most like ourselves. We've never seen ourselves when we cry and are stripped down to raw emotion. When we look at someone and say "I love you," and mean it. We've never seen the way we look at people we care about. That is when we are truly, purely, undeniably ourselves, and is when we are the most beautiful. If only we could see ourselves the way other people see us in those moments, maybe we would understand that we are all truly beautiful.

Maybe it's just human nature to skip over these things and focus on physical characteristics. Humans are visual creatures. We all have things about our bodies and appearance that we're not happy about. Some of us let these insecurities consume us to the point where they stop us from living our lives. But why do we care about our appearances?

Maybe, just maybe, if we stopped worrying about the shape of our cheekbones or the number on the scale, we could focus on things that are actually important, like being a good friend, or simply being a decent citizen of the world. Aesthetics are not everything, in fact they really mean nothing at all. Beauty is ephemeral, and your smooth skin and nice figure will undoubtedly not last forever. But your soul will. The things you do for people and the love you give, that's what will last forever, and will leave an impact on the world.

I'll end with this. Stay beautiful, and remember to notice those little moments, the ones in which we are truly ourselves, and you'll find that you love everyone around you a little bit more.
