This is dedicated to one of my closest friends who recently lost her mother.
How are you?
Those are the words
That at this moment
I wish I wouldn't ever
Have to hear again
I just want to yell back
How do you think I'm doing?
I know they care
I know they want to be here
For me,
For her,
And I want them to be
Yet, at the same time,
I don't want to be around anyone
I loved her
She was always there
Every day
To kiss me good morning,
To whisper a goodnight,
Saying, "Love you,
Miss you,
See you"
Like we always did
Where do we go from here?
How could this happen?
Why her?
Why now?
Why me?
How are you?
I will be fine
We all will
She's in heaven now
Smiling over us
With Jesus
I can't wait to see her again
With that look on her face
She had whenever I got home
She'll wrap me up in a hug
And say,
"There's my little butterfly!
You look as beautiful as ever, sweetheart!"
Today, we all cry out of the sadness
Of her not being there to hug,
But she wouldn't want us to cry
In fact,
Right now,
She's probably smiling
And laughing,
Laughing at us, most likely
It's OK to cry
We aren't letting anyone down
By doing so
She is always there
Whenever we want to talk
Or are having a rough day
We might have to wait
A little bit longer
For another butterfly hug
But she's with God now
And as happy as a Monarch
Trying out its first flight with wings
We should take this
Not as an ending,
But as a beginning
A beginning
Of a new chapter
Of which, we will always remember
And hold dear in our hearts,
In hard times
And in bright times
How are you?
That can be
One of the hardest questions
Whether or not I have an answer right now,
I know not
But I do know,
That I, we
Are never alone
We have such beautiful, fond memories
To have and to hold
From here and now,
Then and there,
So go ahead,
Scream, shout, cry, smile
Do whatever you must
Just know,
That we will always
Love you.
I know this is a very hard topic for people and not everyone has had to experience it in their life thus far- However, I do ask that if you ever do, try to think of how others are really feeling at the time. I know we all want to be there, but sometimes what we all need is just for someone to cry with and hug. Tell them, "We love you and are always here if you need anything. You are never alone," as opposed to asking, "How are you?"
Thank you for reading and God bless each and everyone of you! If you ever need a friend, I'm here, but even more so, God is there for you! You're all in my prayers. Have a fantastic day!
