"HELEN!" a scream rang through Helen's cellphone and she cringed.
"Yes, Brittany? What do you want?" she murmured, hoping that Brittany realized her voice was a lot louder than Helen's at the moment.
Clearly it did not work because, "HELEN!" was what replied again. She sighed and lowered the volume on her phone. "What?" she said irritably.
"Drew..." the name Brittany said automatically made Helen perk up.
"Drew what?" she asked.
"He asked me out. Officially as his girlfriend!" Helen heard a loud squeal and set her phone down, while she waited for Brittany to settle down. She was happy for her, but had a bit of a sick feeling in her stomach. She was jealous. She was never the one to have a boyfriend, only books and books and books. Brittany was the popular, social, and fun one that everyone loved. She got all the boys. People wondered why they were so close, when they were so different. Sometimes Helen wondered to.
"Helen? Are you there?" the voice rang. Helen quickly picked up the phone.
"Uh yeah, sorry, was fixing my hair." she muttered. "That's really great. I can't believe it."
"There's more good news!!" Brittany said. "Drew has a friend. His name is Chris. I swear you two would look together... double date?"
Helen's heart thumped. "Date?" she squeaked.
"Yes, and he's super cute. I'll introduce you to him tomorrow, so dress pretty! I'll come pick you up at around 2 PM." she ordered. Helen glanced at the clock. It was 11 AM, which only gave her 3 hours to get ready.
Helen clutched her phone and was truly excited. Brittany had high expectations, so if she said he was cute, he was probably really cute... She happily opened her small closet and glanced at all her clothes. She groaned at the sight, and texted Brittany.
Brit I don't have anything to wear. I'm on my way to your house. —Helen
Not even waiting for the reply, as soon as she saw the blue bubble pop up on her screen, and the swoosh sound was made, she immediately got ready to go.
A ding rang through her room, and Helen already knew the answer.
Of course u can ;) ill b waitin -Brittany
Helen grabbed a light gray hoodie and left her house, almost tripping over the steps. Fumbling with the car keys in her pocket, she pressed the unlocking button. Hearing the beep made her smile, glancing at her new, shiny black Jeep. She hopped in and drove over to Brittany's. Although she could have walked three steps to get to the house, knowing Brittany, they were probably going to go to the mall after.
She left her car and jumbled through her keys again, and took out the one that was red. Brittany's house key. She entered, and automatically smelled the warm sugar cookie smell that her house had. She ran up the steps into Brittany's room.
Flipping on the light, she saw Brittany snoozing on her grand king sized black bed, with Ruby sheets on top. She grabbed one of her white pillows and hit her on the back of the head. Brittany snorted awake, giving Helen the stink eye.
"You're early. Pick out some clothes, I need to catch a few more Z's."
Helen scanned Brittany's room. It was messy as always. She sighed, and trudged through the mountains of clothes, reaching the door of her closet with a huff of irritation.
She then continued to step into Brittany's huge walk-in-closet, almost the size of her own bedroom. She climbed the steps to the top half of the closet, and rummaged through the mountain of tops that Brittany had collected. Helen had never even seen Brittany wear the same outfit, once. She picked through the tops, and finally found what she was looking for. It was a loose, black, crop top, with 90s written on it in simple white. She grinned, and ran down the steps to the cardigan section. She quickly ripped off a red plaid, and then got a pair of ripped denim jeans. She proceeded to wear everything and glanced at her reflection, but immediately frowned.
The outfit didn't match her. She exhaled in agitation, and groaned. Brittany's style wasn't hers, so why was she trying to copy her?
"Brittany! I can't find anything! Help!" she yelled. She could hear Brittany's sigh, as she walked heavily towards Helen. She walked through half asleep, but she could still come up with a perfect outfit in her sleep. She just picked up random clothes from the ground and shoved it into Helen's arms. She then went back to her room and slept. Helen's eyes widened.
Brittany never failed to amaze her. She tried the clothes on and smiled. A tan sweater hugged her body, and dark skinny jeans made her legs look miles long. A pair of black wedges was on her feet. She pondered whether to put her hair down or up.
"Put it up!" Brittany said, and Helen grinned at their telepathy. She walked out, and gasped. Brittany, a few minutes ago was sleep walking, but now was just hairspraying her perfect black and blue curls. She had a tight black pencil skirt on, and a scarlet red crop top that accentuated her curves. Helen didn't understand how Brittany managed to do it.
"Well it's almost time to go, so grab your wallet just in case." Brittany said, while putting in some sterling silver hoops.
Helen agreed and went to her house to get her Vera Bradley, pink wallet. She looked up at the clock. 1:53 PM. Her heart pounded, and walked back to Brittany's, climbing into her BMW to drive to her date with Chris.
Helen couldn't believe it.
