Underworld
It was midnight.
The dungeon was dark and cold whilst laughter and shrieks echoed through the empty hallways. The whole realm gathered to celebrate and worship their leader who has not appeared yet.
The discordant arrangements of music and their chanting and the vibrations she felt from their dancing made her frown in distaste.
Her palm lay on the floor and she closed her eyes, trying to see as much as possible. She saw a big fire, with women dressed in red dancing around it shamelessly. The demons... all of them were drinking and celebrating, all of them waiting for the king to show up and start the challenges between his experiments.
It was the perfect distraction.
She was very well aware that demons were guarding the place, but all of them were of lower rank so they were not going to be an obstacle on her way out.
The girl took a crouching position and closed her eyes, where she welcomed the darkness inside her with open arms. Her soul and the thing that lived inside her embraced themselves and merged into one, allowing the darkness to come out. Her veins started to blacken while her nails grew longer and sharper as they dug into the floor. When she opened her eyes, irises of molten gold and sclera of abyssal black were the first thing she saw her reflection in a puddle beside her. When the still awake prisoners saw her at full strength, they didn't make a sound, nor did they look at her menacingly. They were wary, but more with fear.
They knew what she was capable of.
The girl rose from the ground and looked at the cell door with only one intent in her mind.
She had to escape.
She walked towards her cell door and held the metal bars in her hand before taking a deep breath and closing her eyes. Moments later, the metal bars were broken and she stepped out of her prison.
Tiny wisps of darkness danced across her skin and rotated like petals of a deadly flower while she walked toward the dungeon door. She opened the door and saw that the demon who was supposed to guard the door was knocked out cold, most possibly drunk. She turned to cast one more glance at the monstrosities she grew accustomed to and left, too eager for freedom and fresh blood whenever she desired.
She had to get as far as possible from the demons otherwise Azrael was going to feel her opening a portal. If she opened it far away, he wasn't going to reach her before it closed.
But before that, she had to make sure she wasn't noticed.
'Can you help me?' She asked the entity that resided inside her. It wasn't exactly an entity, it was more like a faint presence at the back of her mind, with a voice of its own that provided her power.
The voice in her head chuckled darkly and the girl watched as her skin became transparent. She concluded she had to be shocked but nothing surprised anymore her when it came to the thing in her head.
'Stay in the shadows,' the voice told her and she listened. The girl started to run up the stairs until she reached the end of them and saw a group of demons patrolling around. She held her breath and tiptoed around them, making sure she kept her distance so they wouldn't catch her scent.
Once they were out of their sight, she walked out of the underground building and once she was outside, she shuddered from the heat. In the distance, the fire she felt before was bigger than most of the demons and the dark forests caught fire. They only cheered louder at the sight of destruction.
The girl decided to continue walking.
She began to sneak out of the camp, staying in the shadows like the 'thing' taught her, ducking down when a demon passed by or holding her breath when voluptuous females dressed in red walked past her.
She knew them.
They were called banshees.
'Hurry.' The voice in her head warned. The girl fastened her pace and when she got to the gate, she had to keep in her urge to jump on them and devour them. She snapped her fingers and they were knocked out.
She continued her way not without tearing out their hearts first and when her eyes met the sight of a black forest, she sprinted through the trees like a blur, the cold air caressing her naked body so gentle she didn't know what it was.
All she knew was that she was in ecstasy as she stared at the field with red blooms that blossomed only during the night. She ran through the field with her hands moving through the flowers and eyes so wide at the foreign feeling that made her heart feel warm. She never felt so free, without being shackled to bind her down and demons surrounding her. She could taste freedom on her tongue and she could feel her heart pumping loudly from the adrenalin.
She continued to run, not even once slowing down when she was so close to escaping. After some time, when she was sure Alastair wasn't going to catch her in time, she stopped in a plain full of flowers with sharp translucent petals that prickled her skin, drawing out blood.
'Hurry!' The entity barked, snapping her out of her trance.
The shadows around her grew bigger and bigger and wrapped around her right arm like a vine as the transparency of her skin disappeared. The girl squeezed her fist and a tear in front of her was made as if the scenery was made of paper.
She smiled.
In a crazy, demented way.
When a roar shook the ground, she knew it was time for her to jump, and that's exactly what she did.
She fell into the abyss, her body moving in different directions like a leaf in the wind and her ears ringing so loudly she thought she'd go deaf. She put her arms in front of her face in a protective stance and tried not to shiver from the cold that picked at her naked body.
After what felt like forever, the voice in her head barked at her to open the portal. Her hand swiped into the darkness and another tear was made. She gripped it and forced her body inside.
She ended up rolling on something soft. Her body was sprawled all over it, a light glow shining on her naked and scarred body. When she opened her eyes, she only saw green in front of her. Looking down, she noticed that the grass was soft, the total opposite of the grass she knew in Hell.
She gently touched the grass, analyzing it with deep curiosity, then she ripped a few blades of grass, rolling them between her fingers.
The girl made a strange sound in her throat when she got up, feeling now the aftermath of the impact with the ground, and decided to look around herself more. All she could see was grass and trees the same color as it and for some reason, she felt safe. When she looked up, her lips parted in awe at the sight of the moon and the specks of silver that adorned the sky.
She had never seen something so...alluring.
She could hear the melody of a water stream nearby and it almost lulled her to sleep.
Too bad she had to leave.
It was strange though.
For the first time she didn't feel the urge to destroy or kill.
She felt...calm.

After almost a year of being gone, I'm finally done with my exams and I am ready to write my heart out.
Off to new beginnings, I guess.
