The outskirts was quickly emptying as the villagers made their way back to their homes. Shéng Yi smiled in gratefulness but with a little envy watching each family talk to each other happily. A complete one.

Although, it was dawn, people started to prepare for any possible negative outcomes in life. That's what the normal life is here at the Hidden Village of Magic.

"Sheng! Sheng!"

Sheng could recognize the voice anywhere. It was her childhood bestfriend— her sister in her life. On the other side of town, Eri ran up to her, practically holding the scraps of lace in her hands.

"What are you doing here outside of the main village?" she panted in every word she says, crouching as she firmly gripped the laces. Sheng shrugged as if it didn't matter, ever though she knew the reason why.

Sheng knew her friend would understand it someday but not now. Every day, she looked forward to her coming home alive and well. But as the leader of the village, Sheng can't spend mostly of her free time with her playing shoji and mahjong.

Sheng ignored the question and changed the topic to something that isn't disturbing. "Someday I'm going to provide this village the exact peace everyone wants." Sheng would say. "And I hope I can."

Eri smiled with understanding. "I support you; whatever you do for Mahogakure, Sheng." And Sheng would smile back and chuckle at her simple but encouraging response.

The sky began to dim and Eri excused herself before her grandmother could scold her for being tardy and normally Sheng would dismiss her.

Her burgundy hair swayed back and forth, dancing gracefully to the cold breeze. And as it did, Sheng tucked a lock of her hair behind her ear and sighed. "Yet again, you can't just fast forward time." she mumbled under her breathe as he figure starts to disappear out-of-sight.

"I'm home, okaa-san. Otou-san." Sheng closed the door behind her. For a minute, it looked like her parents were still alive. She absent-mindedly stroke the hilt of her jian, as her merry expression was replaced by another.

She felt something missing in her hollow, dark heart. The love of her parents were no more like the gray ashes blown away by the gushes of wind. How ironic for the 'death reaper' to swallow the bitterness of death and loneliness. Wasn't she the death herself?

But sure feels like it doesn't.

When will her life begin?
