The next thing that Y/N knew, she was being blinded by the bright lights of no other than hospital lights. She, naturally, didnt know what happened. She just remembered walking, and then nothing. Plunged into darkness. Her head stung and her hands were bruised. Her legs were bruised too, and one appeared to be swollen. She had a few cuts on her face and felt all stuck and confined, but besides that, she was fine. Her eyes wandered around the room when she was used to the light, her eyes immediately snapping to the door at the sound of a voice.

"You know, it was pretty stupid walking in the middle of a battle." No other than Steve Rogers himself joked, which immediately made Y/N frown.

"What?" She asked, her own voice slightly unrecognisable. It was raspy and quiet, much to her embarrassment. Steve (Captain America technically as he was in his suit) tilted his head.

"You didnt know? Hadnt you watched the news?" He asked in response, irritating Y/N. If she'd seen the news, she wouldnt be in this position, so it was a silly question really. She didnt like being asked question after question anyway.

"Do you think that if I watched the news I'd be here right now?" She asked, her voice now back to its clear and confident state. Steve shrugged.

"I guess not. Loki was attacking New York, we were fighting him and doing a lot of dangerous other stuff when you walked past, accidentally getting hit." He elaborated, a sense of understanding enveloping Y/N's body.

"Okay, but im not 5, im 25, almost 26,  you dont need to filter things out." She rolled her eyes, a nervous chuckle leaving the avenger's lips. Now that she looked around properly, it didnt look like a normal hospital. It looked different. She shrugged that aside for now.

"So, how was your interview? Your, uh, parents told me." He asked, trying to make small talk whilst he waited, presumably for a doctor.

"Oh, the usual. I guess you wouldnt know the usual though." She frowned, curling up further down the hospital bed. Part of her envied the avengers for getting their jobs without ever having to try that hard to get here, but then again she knew it wasnt their fault they had more potential, and they had been through so much that her other part felt horribly bad for them.

"But then again, youre just trying to be nice." She added in a semi quiet voice. Saying sorry seemed adequate right now, but Y/N wasnt the best with apologies. If anything, her attempts often just made things worse, and she couldnt afford to do that, not in the face of a literal admirable hero, one of the ones she shamefully found herself looking up to. A heavy silence hung over the two as they did their seperate things, her analysing the room and him still waiting for someone or something. Eventually, the sound of shoes on the floor attracted her attention. Y/N almost burst with excitement when she saw the one and only, Bruce banner. Under all her I dont care attitude, she adored the avengers and all they did. Theyd once saved her dog from a burning fire, though that was years ago now and they wouldnt remember her dog, who had passed away since.

"Hello, Im Bruce Banner, its nice to meet you Y/N." The other man smiled. She was a little disappointed that they both didnt remember her, but again, it was years ago.

"You too." She gave a small smile.

"Is it okay if I check your wounds?" He asked, melting her heart. For some guy who turned green when he was angry, he sure was sweet. She gave him an approving nod and relaxed herself a little, turning to Steve.

"Sorry." She smiled, a little hesitant. The captain smiled back to ensure her it was okay, and peace settled over the room.

Steve had left shortly after and Tony had taken his place.  Not to offend Steve at all, but she much preferred Tony. He felt easier to talk to because he wasnt so strict or serious, he was relaxed.

"Now, seeing as I sort of feel bad for you, and because Pepper told me to, youre invited to my party tonight." Tony announced. She raised an eyebrow.

"Iron man? Feeling bad? Wow, thats some character development." She smirked, causing him to roll his eyes.

"Yeah, yeah. Will we see you there?" He asked. He seemed itching to leave now, probably to go and work on some new wonderous invention, so Y/N nodded.

"See you there." She told him, which was also his permission to leave. He gave a brief smile before leaving. Coincidentally, Bruce had finished just as the door squeaked shut.

"Ive rebandaged your wounds, you should be okay as long as you check them each morning and before you sleep. Make sure to clean them and put some cream on them. Come to me if it gets worse." He explained. She listened intently to the instructions before nodding.

"Can I, uh, go now? Not that I don't like the company and being in the compound, even if its the medical part, I just have somewhere to be." Y/N rambled slightly.

"Yeah of course. Ill get someone to take you there, wherever there is. Stay here." He said before leaving. She thought it was pretty pointless in saying that since she couldnt go anywhere without help, but she didnt comment on it.

Minutes later Bruce returned with someone she never thought she'd get the chance to be in the face of; Black Widow, Natasha romanoff. It was undeniable that Y/N had a little obsession with her. Maybe little was an understatement. A very big understatement. But she couldnt help it. Not only was Natasha utterly gorgeous,  she was also smart and had such an enticing personality. How could she not be obsessed with someone so perfect? She tried to mask any excitement and unstead stood up.

"Hi." She smiled, unable to control herself. Natasha eyed her up and down.

"Hi." She returned blandly before leaving the room, which was Y/N's cue to follow or get lost. She didnt understand why Natasha was so bland and uninterested at first, but then Y/N guessed that it probably wasnt ideal for her to walk a random person to their destination like some chauffeur. Y/N knew nothing of her past as she wasnt open about it. It wasnt on the news or on any articles either.

The walk was made in silence until she finally got to Natalie's house.

"Thank you," Y/N said, sort of shyly yet strained in a desperation to seem confident and unhurt by the lack of interest.

"Its no problem. Have fun, see you tonight." Natasha smiled before walking off. She smiled at her! She walked into Natalie's house, silently fangirling as she walked up the stairs (of course after greeting her friend's mother).

"Hey gi-what happened to you!" They all squealed in sync as she walked theough the bedroom door. They surveyed her immediately, going into all protective mode.

"Was it that boy, whats his name, Ronnie? I swear hes so fucking ignorant." Charlie guessed, but before anyone else could go on Y/N interrupted.

"No! No. Sit down and ill explain it all." She told them, sitting down first as all the girls gathered around her, their arms around her, head resting on hers or on her shoulders, Jasmine's in her lap. They were all really close and told each other everything. They were human, not bitchy. Not to her. They were themselves to her.

They listened quietly as she spoke, only the occasional gasp or sympathetic sigh leaving their lips. When she was done, Jasmine was the first to speak.

"Im so sorry honey, that mustve been so scary!" She sympathised. Anyone would think they were all dating, but they werent. As she said, they were just really close, and they were all straight. All besides Y/N, but they didnt mind. They all knew they were just friends, a reliever for Y/N.

"I dont mind really. Besides, im sure theyll let me take you all to their party." Y/N suggested, every girl's face lighting up. She knew theyd want to go, and she didnt want to do this alone.

"We have to match!" Lyla immediately announced, to everyones agreement. The bruised girl was glad they were focused on other things now as she wasnt one to want all of the attention 24/7. They all got up, Natalie turning on some music. They all sung along loudly with no shame , giggling and squealing at the same time, using hairbrushes or perfumes or lipsticks as microphones. They acted like teenage girls, and that was the fun of it all.

Y/N didn't mind this part of her life. It was so perfect, to her anyways. She wouldnt change these girls for anything at all. They were her best friends, popular or not, perfect or not.
