Yesterday, Monday, was hectic to say the least, with Areum falling sick again and throwing up many times through Sunday night, and I had to take the day off to take her to the hospital where she was injected in the veins with strong medicines to arrest her throwing up and loose stools. Fortunately, the injections worked and she is a lot better today.

Needless to say that Jang-Mi was super upset about everything because I revealed the fact that Areum ate hotteok on Sunday evening only when we met with the emergency doctor. The doctor was extremely upset too over my careless parenting, and I felt so ashamed and guilty seeing my daughter suffer because of my utter ignorance.

There have been too many things going on in my life and inside my mind, and I really can't afford to use them as excuses for my reckless behavior. I know that it's high time to pull myself together and behave like a responsible adult.

So, as a first step, after giving it a lot of thought, today, I have finally decided to revoke my resignation and submit a letter of apology to the higher management, and then start hunting for other jobs.

Yes, it's embarrassing, but I have no other choices now, and finding a new job within ten more days seems quite stressful.

As I power up my computer and scroll through my emails, my phone buzzes with an incoming call from Maya.

The moment I see her name, my heart begins beating faster, and my hands tremble a little, but I somehow manage to pick up the phone without dropping it, and I also answer the call in a surprisingly calm tone.

"Hi, Maya"

"Hi, Taehyung. How have you been?" She sounds bright and energetic.

"I've been good...okay.." my voice trails off a bit. "How have you been?"

"I'm good, and I was thinking if you could join me at home for dinner tonight," Maya sounds a little nervous, and there's a pause after she finishes speaking.

"Dinner at your home?" I repeat slowly, even though I heard her clearly.

My heart is already fluttering in delight, and my hands begin fidgeting with random things on my desk out of sheer excitement.

"Yeah, do you have other plans? If so, it's okay...we can meet some other time"

Other plans? What are those?

"I don't have any other plans, and I will join you for dinner tonight. I also have to return Richard's clothes," I quickly confirm with a big smile as I lean back in my seat, pushing my hair back with my hand and grinning like a fool.

My reply makes her happy as heard from the little 'yay' she let out.

"That's amazing. Do you have any specific food in mind? I can make that for us," she checks with me.

"Anything would be good, Maya. Don't stress out"

I'm excited, and it shows in my voice, and I bet she sensed it too. And honestly, I wouldn't mind it even if there is no food to eat tonight. I only want to see her and be by her side.

"Alright, I'll see you at 6 then?"

"Yeah, I'll be there at 6...sharp," I chuckle softly when she does the same.

"Are you at work now?" She realizes it's an irrelevant question and quickly covers up. "Of course, you would be. Are you busy?"

"I was just about to revoke my resignation and send out an apology email," I answer her quietly, running a hand through my hair and resting an elbow on the desk.
