From behind, a large palm covered his mouth, blocking out his screams. He had not even noticed how eerily quiet the street was, or the shadows tailing after him.

They dragged him back through an alley. All the stories he had heard, the movies he had seen, were enough to fuel his fear. He tried peeling off the palm that covered his mouth; the tangy saltiness brushed his tongue. He kicked around in no particular direction and attempted to twist the neck of his captor from behind. He tried stalling: holding onto things like the edges of the walls, or steadfast poles, but notwithstanding, they pulled him further into the alleyway, the environment getting darker with each step his captor took.
He tried to scream again, but his screams were muffled. Then he bit down hard on his captor’s palm, and that was the icebreaker. His long, lanky legs carried him as fast as they could, his heart beating wildly and the coppery taste of blood on his tongue, but his luck ran out quickly.

Two sturdy men – both in black clothing – blocked the mouth of the alleyway before he could get out. He skidded to a halt between the first man and the two other men. His mind ran wildly, thinking of all the possible stunts he had watched on television, to bypass his captors. However, he knew they were stunts he could not pull off. His body vibrated as adrenalin flowed through out his system.
In a twinkle of an eye, the three men jumped him and tackled him to the ground. He hit his head on the dirty concrete floor, and the weight of all three on him knocked out his breath, but that did not make him relent in his tussle. His fists flung unconnected punches, and body squirmed and thrashed around as they tied up his arms and legs.
After that, he was carried onto a shoulder, and his arms swung lazily behind the captor. Like an obstinate child, he elbowed the owner’s spine with all the strength he could muster. Consequently, he was dropped to the floor like a sack of potatoes, and his head hit the floor again. He did not waste time – he had to get out of this unforeseen predicament.
Whilst immeasurable pain coursed through his body, he crawled forward. His elbows and kneecaps scratched against the concrete floor so that they became bloody. He did not move far before he was forcefully pushed to his back, and the first man straddled him. Horridly, ever so horridly, he felt his skin being pierced and looked in horror to find a needle injecting clear liquid into his body. His struggles doubled, but his body was quickly becoming limp and numb, and so his once threshing body became still. As they carried him away on a shoulder and into a broody vehicle, he could not help but remember how well the day had started out, before his brain finally shut down.

With a jolt, he sat upright on his soft wide bed, panting harshly and sweating all over. It was all a dream, but he was in so much pain. His head felt like it would split at the hairline, and when he touched his forehead, he realized it was wrapped up in bandages. His face burned like pepper because of the bruises littering it. He began to panic; gulping audibly, yet feeling too tired to move out of bed. He glanced around the room and for the life of him, he could not recognize where he was; he was not even lying on his own bed. Hurriedly, he tried to lift his sore self out of the bed, but he gasped in pain and let go, then he gasped in shock. In his panic, he had not realized that on the only armchair in the room sat a young dark woman who had been staring at him stonily.
