When Dallas woke up, he was in his room on his bed. He looked around confused. Was everything just a dream? He went down stairs and his mom was on the couch. "Dallas how do you feel?"
"I'm fine, I guess. Mom how did I get here and when did you come back?"
"I got back last night and Trevor found you by the front door. You looked pretty beat up. He brought you in and laid you in your bed. Then you woke up and that is all I know."
"I see. I'm sorry if I worried you, Mom. I'll try to be more careful next time," Dallas said looking around. He started to get a pounding headache so he sat down on the couch.
"Dallas, I know you had a long day, but you have to tell me what is going on. You are doing the same things you did when we lived in Texas. I thought we came here to get a fresh start."
"We did Mom and I'm sorry. I know you want us to live normal, but we can't. I have to many enemies for us to live normal."
"Dallas you're only seventeen years old. How can you have to many enemies?"
"Mom my life is complicated right now. I really can't explain it to you," Dallas said looking off into the distance. Emily smiled and kissed her son.
"When did you get so grown up and stop telling me everything?"
"I'm sorry Mom." Dallas said walking off. As he was walking, he started to feel dizzy all of a sudden. Then he passed out. When he woke up, he was back in the basement with Max. "What is going on?" Dallas asked confused.
"Nothing special, really. I'm just going to make you insane."
"What are you talking about?" Dallas asked breathing hard.
"I keep forgetting how slow you are. I injected you with something very special. You may think that you left this place, but you never will."
"So, what you said earlier was a lie? You had no intentions on letting me go."
"That's correct. You will never get out of this place. The only way out is for you to beg me to let you go." Dallas started thinking to himself then he started crying. Max looked pleased and smiled. "Wow Dallas, I didn't know you would break down this easily. If I would have known I would have done it a bit later."
"Why are you doing this to me? I've never done anything to you."
"That's where you're wrong. The day I found out that you were a dragon was the day you did something wrong."
"What are you talking about?" Dallas asked with tears rolling down his face.
"Don't play stupid. I know you're a dragon. You supposed to be the new war dragon. You and Shane are supposed to be Dragonslayers. How could a stupid brat like you possibly be a war dragon let along a Dragonslayer?" Max asked angrily.
"I have no idea what you're talking about. Just let me go. Please just let me go!" Dallas screamed still crying.
"Dallas are you really begging me to save you?" Dallas looked down, but would not answer. "If you say it again then I may just let you go."
"Please I'm begging you to let me go," Dallas said lifting his head up. When Max looked at him his smiled faded quickly. Dallas did have tears in his eyes however, instead of crying he was laughing. "Did you really think I would beg you for my life? I see you found out that I was a war dragon although I'm not sure about the whole Dragonslayer thing, but seeing your face I can tell it's the truth. I'm going to destroy you no matter what it takes."
"Wow Dallas I have to admit that I am impressed. I did not know that you could act like that. I guess all those years lying about what happened to you and that year in prison really paid off."
"Shut up Max. I am sick of hearing your voice." Dallas laid his head back and ended up falling asleep. When he woke up, he was in his mother's arms. She was holding him and humming. Dallas looked at her confused. "What's going on?" he asked jumping up.
"You passed out so I held you in my arms. You should go get ready for school. You're already late," Emily said with a kind and warming smile. Dallas looked at her for a few minutes then went upstairs. He did not even bother with changing. He grabbed his keys and headed out the door. On his way to school he could not help, but think to himself.
Was this all real? Is he really on his way to school or is he just dreaming? Dallas let these thoughts and many more flow into his mind. He ended up wrecking his motorcycle. He twisted his ankle and the motorcycle landed on his leg. Dallas managed to pull his leg out from under the motorcycle. He started walking when his leg started to get sharp pains. He passed out from the pain. When he woke back up, he was once again with Max. Dallas's eyes got big as he looked at Max. "What is in that stuff?"
"What's wrong Dallas?"
"This can't be happening! This can't be happening! This can't be happening!" Dallas screamed this sentence over and over. Max just sat back and watch as Dallas started falling apart.
"Everyone leaves the room. We should leave Dallas a lone for a while." Max waited for everyone to leave then he walked over to Dallas. He leaned over and whispered in Dallas's ear. "Dallas this is only going to get worse. I suggest that you make up your mind quick. Like I said it will only get worse."
Max walked off leaving Dallas all alone. Dallas started to think. Everything he was feeling felt so real. He was having a hard figuring out the difference between what was reality and what was not. He was starting to fear Max even more than he feared Trevor. The more Dallas thought the more he realized how much he truly feared Max. Dallas stayed alone thinking if he was insane. He fell asleep once again. When he woke up, he was in a hospital. Dallas started to feel complete fear. He climbed out of the bed and grabbed his things. He changed into his clothes and ran out of the hospital. He ran to their hideout. He entered the room and everyone looked at him. "Dallas are you okay? You do not look so good," Gail said looking at Dallas.
