“You wish for me to be her majesty’s lady in waiting?” y/n asked as she stood in front of her brother. “It wasn’t me who requested it, his majesty had suggested you to his wife and she was willing to give you a chance, most likely because you are my sister.” Solomon said, he sighed lightly. y/n blinked a few times, “I am aware I was Duchess Thirteen’s lady in waiting until she moved away to a neighboring country, but is that considered the credentials for being the Empress’s lady?” She asked.
“Lucifer believes so. As far as I’m aware Thirteen and the Empress were close.” Solomon sighed. “When is he wishing to see me?” y/n asked.
“Later this afternoon.” Solomon answered. y/n froze, “so soon? But, why?”. Solomon just shrugged his shoulders, looked like she wasn’t getting much out of her brother. “I’ll get ready and start for the palace, it’s a bit of a walk from here.” y/n said, turning to leave towards her room.
She was nervous, but she knew how to hide it. She still thought it was weird that Solomon had talked to Lucifer, they weren’t exactly friends, but acquaintances that had to work with each other from time to time. Her brother was the head sorcerer of the empire, but people found him annoying or very shady. y/n was more perceived as mysterious before actually knowing her. For the people who know her they would call her caring, sweet, hyper, and scary when angry or agitated.
y/n opened the door to his closet, it wasn’t large as she didn’t have many fancy clothes. She grabbed one that would be appropriate for being in the emperor’s presence. y/n removed her former clothing to change into her chosen outfit. After tying the small black corset, she grabbed her two boots that went with the specific dress.
She glanced at herself in the mirror, she looked similar as she did when she first went to meet Duchess Thirteen, she would be lying that she didn’t miss the Duchess. Thirteen was good with her, but she refused to take her out of the empire because the Duchess didn’t wish to take y/n from her brother, that was what she told her.
y/n sighed as she turned from the mirror, she grabbed her wooden brush to brush her hair before leaving. It didn’t take long since her hair didn’t tangle badly. She left her hair down as she left her room. Solomon was sitting on the couch still as he had another spellbook in his hands.
He usually had them a lot, he was a sorcerer after all. But, even she knew he'd read them 40 times over now. “Solomon.” y/n called out, her voice calm. A small hum came from him, his blue-brown gradient eyes not looking up from the pages.
She didn’t say anything else as she just left the home. She was a bit skilled in magic like he was, but not even close to being skilled like him. She recognized the spellbook he had, ‘I probably left it out again.’ She thought. It was one where she was trying to teach herself medium style spells and curses. Since her brother was very unclear with teachings.
y/n walked down the side of the paved brick road as she listened to the people around her. She normally liked to when she went out for walks in town, it was usually how she kept up with news and gossip around the empire. Some interested her to look further into it, but some was just plain nonsense to her.
y/n chuckled to herself when she remembered one time when a noble tried to start a rumor about an affair between Solomon and the empress. She had hunted down the perp herself and made sure he couldn’t talk or spread rumors again for an entire year and a half.
Annelie bumped into the back of someone while thinking about that day. She glanced up, given the person she bumped into was much taller than her, and went to apologize when the person looked back at her. She froze a bit, she didn’t even expect to see him again so soon.
“Oh Hello y/n. I was just about to be on my way over to your place.” He said, his sweet, but calm voice was still as clear as in your memories.
