"No, Shane. You know how I feel about that stuff - I don't even know how to use it anyway." Rick bickered back, feeling annoyed.
For the past week Shane has been trying to get Rick to join a new social media app. He figures it's a way he could make some friends, since Rick doesn't have many. But, Rick thinks it's stupid; a waste of time. He's never been a social media kind of guy anyway. What's the point?
"I'm just sayin' I think you would benefit from it - meet new people, make some new friends, maybe something more than that." Shane shrugged, throwing his hands up in mock-surrender.
Rick can be extremely stubborn sometimes, especially when he's asked to do something he has no interest in. He puts up a fight like his life depends on it.
"If you're just tryin' to get me a date then say that." Rick rolled his eyes, holding down a smirk twitching at the corner of his mouth. He wasn't opposed to going on a date, it's been a while, but should he really trust Shane with that? Shane doesn't know the type of person Rick would be into, he's never explained it to him before. Plus, he would probably pick some random woman that he finds attractive, but that's not what Rick wants.
Shane knows Rick is bisexual, but he doesn't know that he prefers guys more than women. So, maybe this is the perfect time to tell him that.
"Well, maybe. You haven't been with anyone for a while. Don't you miss it?"
Rick hesitated for a moment, unsure how he actually feels about it. "I don't really think about it. If I happen to find someone I like then cool, but I'm not in a rush, and I'm sure as hell not gonna chase after no one..." He paused, thinking how he's gonna word his next sentence. "Plus, I don't really wanna be with a woman. I prefer men, and I'm sure it's much harder to find a decent guy down here than anywhere else." Rick took a sip from his water bottle, breathing a bit heavy into it as he drank.
Shane smiled wide. Rick just proved Shane's point without even realizing it.
"That's kinda my point, Rick. You could meet someone from a different state or somethin'. That's what social media is, meeting people from all around the world. I know some of the guys here ain't the best, but you don't need a guy from down here." Shane explained clearly, confident that he's changing Rick's mind one minute at a time.
Rick sighed loudly, scratching at his forehead. He can't believe Shane is this close to convincing him to do something, not like it hasn't happened before, because it definitely has, but Rick was against this more than anything else.
"Fuck you honestly...I'll do it, but you need to help me with it, I have no clue what I'm doing." Rick chuckled at himself, realizing he truly has no clue what he's walking into.
Soon enough, Rick's account was all set up, thanks to Shane.
"Ok, last thing. You need a profile picture. Doesn't have to be the best picture of you, a selfie works fine." Shane mentioned, handing Rick's phone back to him. Rick took it and froze for a second.
"Shane, you know I don't do that stuff. What about a picture of you and I? There's a few." He countered, not seeing any issue with it, considering selfies were completely out of the picture.
"Ok, but I'll zoom in on you, so people know who they're actually talking to, instead of guessing between two guys." Shane offered somewhat, just trying to please Rick as much as he could.
Rick watched as Shane adjusted the picture just right, then went on to finish setting up a few small things he forgot about. Considering Shane knows pretty much everything about Rick, he just laid back and let him handle it.
