The word princess described Kamisato Ayaka well. She was the youngest daughter from a long prestigious family. Her upbringing grew her into a polite and behaved young girl. As time passed, she achieved many things during her youth. She received the title Shirasagi Himegimi, the White Heron Princess, because of her earnestness and dedication. Her beauty, graceful courtesy and pleasant temperament had captured many hearts.
It was only fair that such a high reputation was followed by heavy responsibility. Ayaka had a tight schedule and must fulfil her role as a part of the Kamisato family. It was unfortunate how her plan clashed with her break time. She delayed her promise to visit Ritou with the traveller to help prepare for the wedding of a distant relative. Ayaka must help with decoration since the Kamisato residence helped with the ceremony.
The young woman was sighing, cutting the stem of carnation for the flower arrangement. Sometimes she cursed her perfection and position. She loved her family and her people, but the weight of the burden crushed her from time to time. Ayaka was raised solely to continue the family, so she sacrificed things she wanted to do.
Ayaka shook her head, trying to erase the negative thought from her mind. "I must be working too much lately."
Before she continued her task, Ayaka heard a beautiful tune playing in the distance. It was such a tranquil and peaceful melody that filled her with serenity. Ayaka unconsciously stood up and followed the sound. She recognized this song as a distant childhood memory in the past. That woman recalled a young boy who played the same song with leaves in his mouth.
She closed her eyes when the wind blew her long silver hair into the air. Ayaka saw a young man sitting on top of the tree when she opened her eyes. He stopped playing his music the moment he saw her. That man stepped down from the tree and stood in front of her.
"Long time no see, Miss Kamisato."
"Kaedehara Kazuha."
Ayaka was a bit surprised when he got closer. Kazuha was taller and bigger than she remembered. "It has been a while, hasn't it?"
"How are you faring?"
"I've been helping Captain Beidou and wandering around Inazuma for a while."
Ayaka was giggling when she heard it. "Such a free lifestyle suits you."
Kazuha could hear a longing in her words. She might be living as a daughter of a high profile family, but deep inside her heart must be wondering about life outside Inazuma. All of these responsibilities just tied her down. She was like a bird in a golden cage. The Kamisato residence was nothing but a mansion to keep her. They would give her everything as long she remained inside.
Kazuha smirked as he was tempted to set the bird free.
"My, isn't this the first son from the Kaedehara family."
Both of them turned their head. Kamisato Ayato was standing with a gentle smile on his face. "It's nice to see you look well, Kaedehara. The last time we met was at the Irodori festival."
Kazuha bowed down at him. "Thank you. It's nice to see you are fine as well."
Ayato laughed at his behaviour. "No need to be polite. Our family has a history together after all."
That man has mixed feeling toward Kazuha. They had a similar background, yet different approaches in life. Kazuha preferred to throw his title while Ayato held the weight of his family name. The Headmaster of Kamisato could not help but feel a little bit disappointed in him. Nonetheless, their family was tied to one another. It would be a shame to cut the connection with petty reasoning.
"So, what brings you to the residence?"
"It was nothing. I'm just passing by and thinking of dropping by to greet you and Ayaka."
"Really? I'm happy to hear that."
Kamisato Ayato was smiling, but his eyes were not. As Kazuha expected, he had a sharp intuition. Kazuha's purpose to visit might be good, but his later intention was not. Somehow the older brother could sniff this. Ayaka did not catch their play and decided to treat the guest. "Let me prepare some tea and snack for you."
"There's no need for that."
Kazuha moved like a wind. The next thing Ayaka knew, he carried her in his arms. "Because I am going to snatch you."
Ayaka was speechless when he carried her. She was panicking, a bit happy yet embarrassed at the same time. She had no idea how to react in that situation. Ayato was too late to stop him. In a blink of an eye, Kazuha and his sister had disappeared. He was stunned by his outrageous action and went frozen for a few seconds. The older brother touched his head and then chuckled. "Next time if you want to ask my sister, use the front door instead of taking her like this, Kaedehara."
After arriving at a safe place, Kazuha let Ayaka down. She was puzzled but then remembered her work at home. "The flower arrangement!"
"Miss Kamisato, you should forget about it for a moment."
Ayaka was frowning, feeling rather displeased by him. Could she call this kidnapping? Kazuha obviously had no intention of keeping her or getting ransom for her brother. She could even fight him using her vision. However, that man did not show any sign of wanting to harm her.
"Kaedehara, you better explain to me what just happened."
"I'm afraid I have no good reason for it. You look rather burned out, so I assume you need some fresh air."
His deed was uncalled, but his word was true. When was the last time she relaxed? It might be the reason why she had a hard time focusing on her job. Ayaka was sighing, perhaps a change of pace was necessary.
"You are right. I need to take a rest, but...." She was silent for a second. "I don't know where to start."
"I can help you with that." That man offered his hand, winking at her. "Shall we ditch everything and have some fun?"
Author note: I wish Kazuha kidnap me from my responsibility too.
