Earth is beautiful. It's everything that lives, and everything that grows. We abuse and destroy it, cutting down trees to build our houses, pumping toxic gases into the air, despite all it gives us. It surrounds us, living and breathing.
We don't often take the time to look at what we're blessed with, we take it for granted. If we would only take the time, once we claw our way out of the dysfunctions and corruption of daily life, we can see the grass that moves in steady waves, each strand individual but synchronised. The trees, roots buried deep into the earth, anchoring their place in this world. Each leaf, a different hue. Swaying in the wind. Nature is the togetherness of what is separate, the glue of the universe.Air is influenced by its surroundings, the cool night air nipping at your skin, leaving goosebumps, the briny air filled with salt spray. It's powerful and gentle, hurricanes and summer breezes. It caresses your skin, swirling, soaring, and dipping. Tangling your hair and flying through your fingers. It can be fresh, or thick, it's soothing and terrifying.
Fire is dangerous, the smoke that clogs your lungs and makes your eyes well. The flames that curl and whip. It rages and burns. When the water is polluted, the earth is neglected, and the air chokes - fire burns bright. The guardian of creation, it cares for nothing, it burns bright with heat and light.
Sometimes I wish for fins, or a tail, just so I can dive into the depths of the tranquil sea. The sea is full of secrets, it hold the past and the present, the unknown and the beautiful. Water drips or crashes, infused with ancient magic. It's calming and terrifying. Water has the power to eradicate any man made structure, or capture humanity with its beauty and ability soothe.
Humans have destroyed this earth. They were gifted the elements, elements that provided strength, power, and structure. They abused their power, creating a corrupt society built to advantage the rich and deprive the poor.
The end. A reset button. We didn't know what was coming, what would follow the torrent of disasters. The end was something not even the most imaginative mind could've conjured up. Who knew that the world would fight back. Disasters created carefully by Mother Nature, intended to remove humanity from existence. A plot hatched to rebirth the world. To start anew with kinder people, people who respect where they inhabit.Avani was designed to rule the earth faction in the new world. Mother Nature hoped for her to re-establish humanity, along with Keyre, Phoenix, and I. She was the perfect candidate, strong and empathetic, sensitive and full of light. Keyre was wise, with a soft and strong temperament. He held so much power without saying anything, the ideal for an air ruler. Phoenix and I clashed, I was rough and wild, impossible to tame. He was just the same. We were purposefully selected to rule fire and water respectively.
Mother natures futile plan collapsed, when her apocalypse like natural disasters killed off her intended rulers. Leaving me, alone. The sole ruler of the new world.
