The new founded enemy of blood (Halo fan fic)

Survival continues part 2

Lock followed the tracker to there location. The bunker seemed abandoned then Chief turned off the camouflage and held a gun up next to Locks head , "shes not here" knowing he came for Halsey "where is she then demon"? he asked in a tone of suspicion not believing Chief. "She left in the night heading back to find the Arbiter" , "If i find she's gone ill be back for you" threatening Chief. "That's if i'm still here" he responded in a very cheerful tone". Lock left to find Halsey , as he left Chief re coded the scrambled codes to bring back Kortana. Then the computer shut down and re programmed itself the Arbiter was on the screen he had Kortana on his ship.

"Your making a big mistake Arbiter" , "No demon i am afraid its you who has made the mistake return Halsey to us now ! or she dies !" the Arbiter bellowed. "Give me Kortana or i kill Halsey" Chief trying to intimidate the Arbiter "your petty threats are nothing to me and you are out of time to be making negotiations , Halsey or her creation will be terminated permanently demon" and then the video stops. Chief ran out of the bunker he found Lock they both stood and stared at each before aggressively running at each other trying to take one another to the ground , Lock grabbed Chief and swung him into into a rock splitting his helmet.

Lock took off his helmet and stood back up he was too strong willed to be beaten he grabbed Chief by the neck and strangled him , Chief kicked Lock on to the ground to begin punching him. They wouldn't stop fighting until the other had no blood left. Chief began to get weak as did Lock someones final moments were approaching until....Halsey saw them both.

Halsey grabbed chief and got him off Lock "you only have one chance to save her would you really go through all this effort to lose her again ?" Halsey asked , he got off Lock and let them returned to the ship. "We had a deal Arbiter give her back to me" , "as much as i despise you demon i am an Honorable Arbiter who keeps there word." He chucks Kortana to Chief , he grabs it tightly and inserts it back into his armor. "Chief is it really you ?" she asked almost trembling with fear , "its me what did they do to you ?" Chief asked with concerning tone. "They tried to reprogram to a covenant AI to hack the UNSC launch codes , they wanted them to break the treaty the Arbiter wants another war".

"You know I can't reason with them what i did to bring you back , has endangered thousands i am trying to stop it." "This agent Lock why is he after you ?" "i don't know i believe he's working for the Arbiter i need to return to the bunker i need you to research something for me". "Now John were only reunited and already got m doing chores nice to see you too." She said in a very mellow sarcastic tone. They returned to the bunker and Kortana was searching for all meanings of blood bond. "Chief i found something rather exciting in ancient covenant terms  blood bond mean brother. "My brother was Missing In Action 20 years ago his body was never recovered".

"Well according to this Lock also had a brother but 15 years ago he was reported M.I.A. also , but that was we blew up the 2nd Halo ring ......Chief are you not seeing what i am seeing"? she asked. "What i think isn't important whats important to me is trying to keep the world from suffering another war traitor or not the people don't deserve this". Kortana knew he was avoiding the subject , Kortana did more research. "I can't get through to the UNSC , probably because they've cut your comm link to them". "We'll hack the comm's in the computer to retrieve signal" , "good thinking John".

Chief put Kortana into the computer as she was looking for the data , but what Chief didn't realize was that she was doing further research into his and Lock's past. Alot of the data matched Chiefs description , same place of origin , family , both in the spartan project at the same time so much information matched it's uncanny. She finally got to the task at hand before Chief roused suspicion , she passed through the fire walls and began to re - establish connection. "Too late AI Halsey is launching the codes the missiles will launch in 15 minutes say goodbye to everything as you know it".

Chief knew he had to do something but what ? he was rogue the UNSC didn't want him after his betrayal , he tried to reach out to Lock. "You have family Lock iv'e seen your record they'll be dead , in 15 minutes can you live with that. You'll have nothing left everything will be gone even tough you can save them and everyone else be the hero i once was". "His family on Earth aren't all he has is it Chief ?". Chief still didn't understand what he meant. "Stop with the riddles what do you mean there is no blood bond between us !" , "He's right Chief i tried to ignore it at first but he's right were the long lost brothers separated at the testing lab."  "I was afraid of meeting you because I wouldn't know how you'd  take it  ,  but my brother being the traitor of the UNSC is unforgivable you have to be punished only seems fitting that i'm the one that........"Kills me I get it".  Lock  had a tough decision to make his brother or  the arbiter  which could break the treaty.

Chief stood staring at them waiting for his execution  he wasn't afraid to die , he went to reach for the back of his  neck  ,  he grabbed the chip .....he crushed  it in his hand  , he would never admit it he loved her  he didn't want to die knowing that she'd work for the enemy and he knew she loved him too. "You fool demon , she was the only hope  you're people had. Chief reached for his helmet and  threw it to the ground in anger  "I'm not one of them I'm a lab rat  , a thing  an experiment !".  The arbiter yelled "prepare the guns to shoot on site!" , Chief clenched his eyes tightly  "goodbye".  A shot was fired  , yet Chief didn't feel anything he slowly opens his eyes . "I saved you were bound by blood , that comes before anything but you still betrayed us". Chief knew what was coming , he was ready.  

A shot was fired but did he feel any different , no he didn't nothing was different he still stood. He slowly opened one why while keeping the other slightly closed ,  He looks at the ship and see's a body falling to the ground. He run's over to have a closer look and see's ......It's the Arbiter his brother saved him.  He was shocked he thought he wanted him death , he didn't know if to thank him or to run he could never be sure what to do. He look into the palm of his hand and stared  at the broken computer chips , he couldn't face  what happened. He looked down in despair  and regret  ,  he looks up expecting  to see his brother preparing execution. 

Yet the ship was gone Chief  was yet again alone , so he did what he knew best survive. He walked and walked the never ending desert  he looked back at the arbiters body one last time and  turns back. He decides that may have been enemies but a burial is in order. He threw his dog tags  to the ground and buried them along , with the computer chips of Kortana.  He saw a distant figure in the desert , he used the enhanced vision in his helmet all he saw was magnum.

He finally knew who time had come , he knew  that he wouldn't live forever especially not after doing what he did.  He heard the shot been fired it hit....in only a few moments it pierced through his titanium armor plate. It got into the skin ...The blood started to gash out of his body , it was uncontrollable. He began to fall weak , he fell to the ground gasping for air  , as his lungs slowly crushed. His heart beat slowly started to get slower and slower , As his eyes slowly began to shut. Lock looked into his almost clenched eyes , he was in tears he couldn't face to say goodbye after all these years. He whispers into his ears.

"It's funny you know were brothers yet enemies bounded by blood".

In that moment Chief died and two brothers lead beside each other , in death.
