Pico's small apartment had become like a second home to by now. It was simple and comforting. He began getting his blanket out to sleep on the couch.
“Hey, the least I could do is not put you out of your room this time, let me crash on the couch, you know I sleep fine out here.”
“No way,” He said, “You’re my guest and besides, I know you prefer the fan in the room, and plus-“ She cut him off. “I won’t argue it, you figure out desert and a movie, and I’ll be on the couch tonight.” He just laughed, admitted defeat, and went to go lay a towel out for her in the bathroom.
Later that night Nene woke up and laid there for a while, she got up from the couch and walked down the hallway, lightly tapping on the door.
“Pico, are you awake.” He grumbled a response of “Yeah dollface, are you alright? What’s up?” He flipped the lamp on, and she was greeted by his shirtless form. Toned and muscled but soft in the middle, just the right balance.
“Dollface?” He repeated.
Nene walked in and stood there for a moment, swallowed down her reservations.
“Can I sleep in here, with you?”
His eyes widened, he stammered a little. “Uh uh, yeah, uh of course, absolutely. I mean yeah, here I’ll move.”
Before he could get too far, she crawled in bed and scootched right up next to him. He tensed for a second, before relaxing and pulling up the covers around her. He awkwardly adjusted her pillow, asking if it was alright, if she needed anything. Nene relaxed into the curve of his arm and exhaled for what felt like the first time in a long time.
His posture softened and he reached over and lightly grasped her hand with his free arm, caressing his thumb along the outlines and watching her eyes, waiting for a sign to stop or continue.
“I don’t want to ruin our friendship or anything, but I won’t continue without getting your go ahead for what I’m thinking, and what I’m thinking isn’t friendly.”
