By third period everyone was buzzing about Tom and I. He walked me to every single class holding my hand and ignoring everyone's stares his focus only on me.
"So babe, what do you think about eating lunch with me today? The boys would love to meet you." His eyes had a sparkle in them as if he was proud that his friends wanted to know me, but my head said something else. Meeting his guy friends would be fine but the girls and his friends girlfriends were a different story. I bit my lip and he must have saw my internal infliction in my eyes and sighed.
"Babe, I'm trying here to help you. Why can't you just except the fact that you won't make it in the big leagues if you shy away from every opportunity to meet new people?" He said angry. I knew he was talking about the few times that he had asked me to eat with him but each time I politely declined.
"Tom i'm sorry. It's just the girls at your table kind of intimidate me." I admitted, embarrassed. He let out a laughed and gave my hand a squeeze.
"You won't have to worry about that. Luci you are practically their leader and they have to listen to you." I smiled at him and opened my locker
. "Well in that case, I guess having people fawn at my feet isn't all bad." I said sarcastically and grabbing my books. I shut my locker and turned to see Tom staring at me.
"What? Is there something on my face?" I asked, self conciseness. He laughed and tucked a strand of loose mouse brown hair behind my ear.
"No, your just so sexy. Why aren't you my girlfriend?" He asked and I laughed at him.
"Well you've never asked me to, Mr." He smirked and pulled me to the cafeteria,
"Will you? Be my girlfriend I mean. Will you Luci be my girlfriend?" I blushed and looked down at my feet.
"I would be honored." I said. He fist pumped and then kissed me on the lips. As he pulled me to his crowd of friends to tell them all of his victory I thought about it. He just gave me my first kiss and was the first boy to ask me out. I expected the first kiss to be one of the most important moments of my life, but that wasn't even very good. I knew I didn't really have anything to compare it to but still I thought that maybe it would be more special and romantic and that when I would be asked out it would be a pivotal moment, romantic and unforgettable.
"Hello, Lucy? Are you listening to me?" Tom waved his hand in front of my face and I snapped back to reality.
"Hmm, oh yeah? What did you say?" I asked, sitting next to him at the table.
"I said that Nelly and Jason are heading to the line to get my food, what do you want?" I looked up to see a shy girl my age and a scrawny boy standing there. It took me a moment to realize that this was my world now. I mean I was used to people doing somethings for me, but mom always said that we were given hands and feet for a reason. But if I wanted to fit into Tom's life I would have to be just like all the other girls.
"I'll have a water and a salad." I said coldly and turning back to Tom.
"So, have you made all the party plans for Saturday?" I asked. Tom gave me a smile and shook his head.
"No, what do you have in mind?" I had tons of ideas going through my head, but there were two ways to go about this. One I could tell him I had no Ideas and wait for my lunch to arrive and option two was to be in control about the whole thing. I chose option two. I pointed to the girls across from me at the table.
"You two, go get me Michael Wicks. You, yeah you blondie go find Alex Carr and meet me in the quad after fifth with them." I turned to Tom and he had a look of amusement on his face.
