I picked up my phone and called Ebony, my best friend since I was 3 years old. We met in a toddler group our mums took us to and have been inseparable ever since. Our mums were good friends for a while but things changed when Ebony and I started high school. My mum always said that Ebony was a bad influence on me, always getting me into trouble. I guess that's a mum thing, no one was ever good enough to be my friend.
It didn't take long for Ebony to answer the phone, two rings and she deafened me with her high pitched rendition of 'happy birthday'. I couldn't help but laugh at my dorky best friend, I loved her like a sister but she couldn't sing at all.
"Thank you Ebs" I tried to spit out through my fits of giggles.
"You know me Luna, I have the voice of an angel" of course she knew she didn't but that girl was always singing "what are your plans for today?" she asked me, probably assuming I'd be spending the day with my family.
"Mums had to run into work and the dippy twins have ditched me" I knew Ebony would be there for me.
"On your birthday?!" She shouted down the phone, I don't know why she was so shocked she knew what my family were like "Meet at the usual place in 10?"
"Definitely, see you soon" we hung up the phone and I finished getting ready. I quickly scribbled a note down for mum:
Gone out to see Ebony, will be back later, love you x
Then I ran out the door and started to walk to our usual meet up place. We lived in a small beach town, it wasn't anything major, a muddy beach, a falling apart fair and a few shops. Nothing like the beach towns you see on the TV or in the movies. If you've ever visited a beach town in England then you know what it's like.
Our usual meet up place was at the far end of the beach where no one seemed to go, probably because it was so far out that people got bored and turned back. Ebony and I found it years ago, way before we were allowed that far away from home.
The walk was usually straight forward, I'd done it enough times to know where I'm going without looking. But today it felt different, I couldn't put my finger on it though. Until I was in the centre of town, well what we classed as town, when a women brushed past me in a hurry. That's when I felt it, a rush filling my entire body, kind of like the rush you get when you fall over, a slight panic.
My mind filled with images of people I didn't recognise, of places I didn't know. All put together in a kind of flipagram, image by image, making up a story of someone's life. The woman's life.
Then I saw this exact moment, the one from right now, where the woman brushed past me. I saw myself through her eyes.
A/N: So this is chapter 2, Luna is still 13, I haven't yet skipped forwarforward, but still getting the back story out. I have decided I'm going to write short chapters, around 500 words each and update the story everyday (if possible) I just personally like writing shorter chapters.
How are you liking the story so far? I would love to hear what you think of it so don't forget to comment, fave and vote:)
Thank you:)
