'You call that a bonus?'
' A hundred pounds is a great bonus I would think, for somebody who doesn't have any qualifications.'
Lea laughed bitterly.
'If I were a waitress perhaps, but I stole you a car!
'You did indeed. And once it's sold you'll get a percentage. ' Mark smiled but she could tell it wasn't a friendly smile.
' I need the money now, that's s why I agreed to do this on such short notice.'
'Sorry luv, but you can imagine what'll happen to me if I payed everyone up before I sell any of these out.'
'What percentage do I get, again?'
'10.'
'WHAT? HOW COME TERRY GETS 20?'
Mark sighed. He really wanted to go home and enjoy a long shower and go to bed. If this chit didn't get out of his hair soon he'll have to indulge in something alcoholic again.
'Terry has been at this job a tad longer than you, don't you think? The longer you're with us the higher we pay you. It's how it's always worked, take it up with Terry if he'd told you differently. '
'How about you give me 1000 pounds now and keep the rest of my measly 10 percent.'
Mark had already headed for the door when she spoke. He sighed exaggeratedly.
'I can't spare 1000 ponds tonight. If you need money asap I have a buyer lined up for tomorrow's catch. We could use another set of hands since it's a high risk job.' he was looking at her intently thinking whether she could manage that kind of pressure.
'How much do I get?' she would get all the facts straight this time. If she wasn't furious she might have lost her head and ask absolutely nothing by the way he was looking at her. His eyes were so dark brown that from a distance they looked black and combined with his black hair and beard ne looked formidable. She wouldn't mind spending the night with him though. The tapping of his foot snapped her attention to the matter at hand.
'You get 3000 the same evening, the job starts at 9 you must be done by midnight.'
'How many people on the job?
' You, me and two more.'
'I thought you just ordered people around.' she smirked.
'I do, and this is too important so I need to order people around up close.' he smirked back and the hair on the back of her neck lifted.
'Ok, what are we stealing?'
'The bat mobile from 2012 film.'
'You must be joking.'
'Not at all. And I don't have all evening, he looked at his watch impatiently.'
Her mouth was hanging open. Who would want a bat mobile and what would they do with it? It's not like they can drive it once they scrape the serial number. But what did she care? She needed the money or she was dead, this sounded better than robbing a bank.
' Count me in then!'
' Smart girl!'
