Hi, my name is Skylar, you can call me Sky. I'm 13 years old and I have a pet dragon. Yep. A dragon. There is a picture of my dragon as a hatchling above. And the marking on my hand that I got will be in another chapter. That's what I'm going to write in this book about. I hope you enjoy!

I was at Alaska for the summer. I had just turned 13. About a week after my birthday, I went Blueberry picking with my Tatta, Nanna, my mom, and Aunt. I had decided to go a little farther from my family and closer to the richest and fat blueberries. Once I got all if them in the bush, I noticed another patch of blueberries in an old grassy nest. They were all on a stone. I walked closer and realized that it was a stone with blue dots. It had a pure shiny green backround with blue patches. I made sure that I had nothing in my pockets, then I put the stone in the warmer pocket. I ran to catch up with my family and continued picking blueberries. I got the most in years! I had 3 buckets full of blueberries! Tatta asked what I was going to do with them and I said, "I'll make pancakes for the town, then keep the rest."

When we got back to the boat, I counted and we had 7 buckets full of blueberries. Once we got back into the boat, I huddled in the boat shed where it was warm. I always went in there. Sometimes when we go boating I sleep in the shed and same for my cousins when they come along. I was reminded of the stone in my pocket and took it out. Every time the boat hit waves and made bumps, I would hear a squeek. I didn't know much about bird eggs so I showed it to everyone in the boat. "I have never seen a bird egg with those colors bun" my Nana said. "Alright. I'll put it on my desk or something when we get home." I replied then went back into the tiny cabin.

I still had a strange feeling that this stone was an egg. I put the strange stone back into my cozy pocket, protected it with my hands, and took a nap on a few coats and a sleeping bag. I woke up when the boat was dragging on the shore. I got out of the cabin and yawned. Tatta was driving the truck with the boat on wheels, being pulled by the truck, behind. I saw my mom sitting on the boat driver's seat. Aunty Christmas was sitting at shotgun and Nana was in the truck with Tatta.

My Aunt smiled, "Good morning sleepy-head!" I stretched, "Good morning." I double checked that the stone was still in my pocket, then I sat down on top of the cooler. Once we got to Nana and Tatta's house, I jumped out of the boat and ran inside. I got a polished decorating wood piece, a few silver-grey rocks, and the stone. I set down the wood on the window seal next to the heater. I put the stone in the middle and surrounded it with the rocks. Once the stone stayed still and I was satisfied, I got my blueberries. I rinsed them off and made hundreds of pancakes. I had half a bucket full left when I thought it was enough for the town.

When the pancakes were done and cooled off, I went to the edge of town, and knocked on every door giving people free pancakes. I checked my phone when I was done, and it had been 5 hours. I included Nana and Tatta's house and I kept the 3 extra pancakes for my mom and I. The next morning we all had pancakes. I was completely bored so I took my new statue decoration, and went to my cousin's house.

I showed her the weird object which she wasn't very impressed with. Then we walked to one of the restaurants in town and ordered 2 giant sets of fries for a snack.

Afterwards I went for a bike ride alone and rode along the beach. I stopped right after I saw the gate and sat down in the warm sand. I put the stone in front of me after sitting criss-cross. I heard the squeek agian and inspected the stone. I looked out onto the distance, got out my tiny cloth full of blueberries and set it next to me. I heard it agian. Squeek! Crack! Then I looked at the egg agian. I looked away then.....Squeek! Crack Crack! I looked at the stone, there was a crack in it. It was an egg.

I watched the egg carefully. After a few minutes of silence, I sighed. Soon I heard several cracking and squeeking. I got on my knees and bent to examine the egg closer. There was a hole on the top of the egg and a little blue head popped out. Squeek! I jumped backwards and fell. I adjusted myself and watched the creature trapped in the egg. It had a horn next to its nostrils and two horns where ears should be. It had what looked like strong leather for skin. The creature had pure white teeth and a cute tiny red tongue. It also has dark brown eyes like mine but with diffrent shaped pupils. It was a dragon.

The dragon squeeked helplessly as it tried to get out of the egg. The egg didn't budge. I looked at the dragon, poor thing! It's stuck. I should help it. I gently took away the egg shells and backed up so the dragon could get out. I let out my hand. The dragon has beautiful, healthy, strong wings. I loved this dragon. It touched my hand and a blue marking appeared on my palm that looked like a tattoo. The dragon squeeked, "Shh. It's ok little one. I won't harm you. Everything will be ok." I looked around, took a handful of blueberries, and held them out for the dragon. It sniffed the berries and gulped them down. It jumped on my hand, lost balance, and fell onto my other hand. I got the cloth, wood, and egg shells and put them in my pocket and got on my dark blue bike. I put the dragon in my pocket with the cloth and rode my bike home.

Once I got home, I put everything in my room, put the dragon in my cloths that i had in a pile, then had dinner. When I got back in my room and turned on the T.V., I put on the movie, Eragon and read the book on what he did with Saphira. The dragon watched the movie on my lap. I told the dragon a few things, "Ok so, you are going to have growth spouts, and will read minds. I can teach you how to hunt once we run out of blueberries. My name is Skylar, and people call me Sky. I sure hope you don't have the humor that Saphira had. Can you talk?"

The dragon looked at my in understanding, S..Skylar, right, er.....Sky? The dragon sounded squeeky and not completely sure. Yes. Are you a girl, or boy? I replied. The dragon sat up straight, I am a girl. Are we choosing my name?! I thought for a second. Yes. Blueberry? Gloria? Lightstreak? She didn't like any of the names. Hmm......are you.....Saffire? I loved the name. And so did my dragon. My dragon, Saffire.
