Mother has walked out of the kitchen and into the parlor on the phone. The wire almost looks like it's about to break. Rolling my eyes I dry my hands on the towel. My hands are warm, soft, and water soaked from washing the dishes. "Ding dong!" the doorbell screams. "I'll get it!" I yell even though no one was listening. I turn the old rusted doorknob. Letting the warm air smack me in the face. "Hey Cam!" my best friend since preschool says. "Morgan!" I say as I hug her. "I'm going to the swimming hole! wanna come?" she asks. I hesitate before I say "Yes! Sure! Let me ask my mom." I shut the door, not meaning to make a loud noise. Mother is at the kitchen table eating soup. "Hey Mother! Can I got to the swimming hole with Morgan?" I ask. She looks at me, eyes wide with fear. "Cam honey you know what happened there right?" she asks. I quickly think back to last month when Gwen Tall injured her head and passed away. It was a dramatic loss. I suck up my tears that are about to escape my eyes. "Yes, I remember." I sniffle "but I promise to be careful!" "Okay, okay. You can go, but please be careful!" she says. "Thanks so much mother!" I scream as I run up the old creaky stairs. I open my door to a lavender smell. I open my drawer and find my old blue swimsuit. I quickly change in the bathroom and tug up my hair. "Coming!" I say and with that I run (almost fall) down the stairs. "Alright! let's go!" Morgan says.
