it's been a while since i've been here, but I've made new shit so i figured i'd share.
the most fun thing I've done recently graphics-wise was try my hand at the traditional comic style cause it looked like fun lmao, and i just wanted to explain how i did it because I've had a few people ask
so I'll use the cover i made for nat for example, which ill show you at the end
the first thing i did was find a base image from an existing Poe Dameron comic that i then edited and manipulated to my liking. the main reason i love my comic style is because it's a blending of standard wp cover making, image editing/manipulation, and then just good ol' digital art and drawing (which some of you will remember, i used to do quite a lot). it was good to use those art skills again after so long, and put them to use in a new way.

this is the original unedited star wars comic cover and as you can see, and i kept a lot of the elements very similar because i didn't want to overrule the original cover, just edit it to fit what i wanted to make. i found a comic face claim for the oc (credits to bumiaangs and vaderism for starting the comic face claims movement 🤍) and went about recolouring her features and suiting her to the style of the comic above.

i started with a standard carol danvers aka captain marvel comic (from spectcrs on pinterest) and eventually got to the image on the right (yes i had to draw the top of her head, no it wasn't fun). as you can see, her expression was changed, as well as her hair colour, eye colour and skin tone in order to match the irl face claim for this oc, which is Alicia Vikander. i also had to smooth her features and make her outline lighter to suit the style of the Dameron comic so it looked more natural.
then all i had to do was edge out the big guy (terex) and fit my edited image in, which wasn't easy because i hadn't realised just how different the two comic styles were. i made it work though, i outlined poe's features the same way the carol comic's features are outlined and gave them both the yellow halo around their features and then edited in the rest of the background, plus removing the heading text and making my own. i just copy and pasted the tags and barcodes from the original cover in too, to save time.
eventually, i ended up with this.

and here is a side-by-side comparison so you can see the differences properly.

it's not perfect but i am very proud of it, and it was probably my most complicated comic cover to date and it was very fun to make.
but yeah, that's how i make this particular style of comic cover. i do have another style as well which i used for these two covers

but that style is equally much easier and much much harder. i'd be happy to do a tutorial on the right one (cause that purple lightsaber is a manip that i made, the original cover looks like this) as well.

and yes for those wondering, the original artist has been credited on the cover itself (directly beneath the barcode) and i made sure the art was copyright neutral.
but yeah that's cassie's comic cover adventure for today, thanks for tuning in 🤍
if you would like to make a comic cover in the same manner i did, following my (very vague unhelpful steps) please credit me
