"You can't keep running away from this Alli... You know; They say you only run away from the things you are truly afraid of..." His voice, tainted with age.
"I- Uh- I- I- I'm not af- afraid!" I stuttered helplessly. His eyes fixed on mine with a smirk.
"Whatever you say my dear, but just know. I'll be waiting..." His voice restrained as he disappeared around the marble wall. The clicking of his cane eventually faded at the soft ding of the open elevator.
I closed my eyes as cool sweat dripped down my forehead.
