Chapter 3

An island...

Such a pretty one.

Watching the calm waves of the sea, I hummed.

Remembering the tune that the man was singing a while ago and also the same one he sang the first time I heard him.

Little did I know...

Oblivious as I always am, a pair of eyes were staring at me.

It's already past midnight.

But,

A human...

No.

This is not good.

I could've been caught.

I was about to swim back to my home,

But...

Her voice.

She hummed the tune that I was singing earlier... My mother's song.

It sounded wonderful coming from her and I stilled.

My kind have always been known for having beautiful singing voice, but her...

I was brought back to reality when I heard a sudden ringing from her direction, halting her sweet humming.

She held a device that soon stopped ringing.

I was confused.

She then spoke, confusing me more.

"Hey... Yeah, I'm sorry... No I don't think I'd be able to make it later today."

"Who is she talking to?" I thought. "There's no one else with her. It couldn't be me. She does not know I'm here."

"Just tell them I'm not feeling well... Alright. Bye."

She continued then put the device back to where it was.

Not that long, she stood up, making me hide more behind the rock she's at.

She smiled with closed eyes and whispered to the air.

I wasn't able to hear it.

But it was the first time I saw the most genuine smile coming from a human...

A tear rolled down her right cheek but she immediately wiped it. Then she started walking away.

A/N:

Hi guys. Hahaha another update I guess... I kind of feel so sad and down today so I decided to write an update to clear my mind.

Well... Three of my little guinea pigs passed away earlier this day (05/10/2022) and... It's just... I'll miss the way they squeak whenever they see me.

Guys... I want to remind you. If you have pets or little friends like those cute mammals, don't entrust someone else to take care of them for more than a day, because not everyone will treat them the way that you do.

I made a huge mistake of entrusting them to someone, someone I've known my whole life, and when I woke up today, I found out from my parents that they died out of starvation.

Take care everyone and I hope that things will go well for all of you today.
