Jaemi just got home, and she changed from her black dress to some simple clothes. She looked at the clock and was surprised to see it was already 12:30 in the midnight. Did she really spend too much time there? She didn't care anyway. From today on, her life will be changed now. She's gonna miss those times. Those times they laughed together, sharing jokes and just tease each other. Those small arguments they had, though they still end up making up. Those times she spent with him, her love. Kim Jongdae. She turned her phone on, and she was immediately met with that handsome face of his. Her lock screen was one of his selfies he took on her phone. Tears already formed in her eyes, and she unlocked her phone. Her wallpaper was one of the pictures they took when they were at their favorite amusement park. Memories started flooding her mind and she closed her eyes, letting her tears fall. She was planning to text her friend, Minseok, but she changed her mind. She turned off her phone again and lied down on the bed, the bed she shared with Jongdae. She held one of the pillows tightly, and she could still smell his scent on it. She buried her face into it and continued to sob quietly. Why does he have to leave her so early? Didn't they promise to have their future together? Fate was too cruel to take him away from her. She felt broken. She really wish that the accident was all a joke. She wished that he would walk in their room and tell her it was all a prank, and she would start hitting him with a pillow, and they would end up having another one of those silly pillow wars, because a pillow fight is not enough. She wished the pillow she was hugging right now was him, she wanted to cuddle him again. Hurt and sorrow was all she can feel right now. She sat up, the pillow still in her arms. She silently prayed for him to come back, even though it's really impossible now. She wanted to spend another moment with him. Just one more time. She closed her eyes tightly.
The room suddenly got colder. And she suddenly heard a soft voice calling out to her. That familiar sweet voice she loved to listen to everyday. She thought that it was just her mind, playing tricks on her. But the voice kept calling out to her. She opened her eyes, and she was stunned to see him, her boyfriend, right in front of her. He was illuminated by the moonlight from the window, making him look so majestic. He was wearing white clothes. No, this is all my imagination, she thought.
"It's not, Jae," She heard him speak. She couldn't believe it, is this really him? Is this really Jongdae just speaking to her?
"Of course silly, come here," He said and she could feel him wrap his arms around her. She leaned in to his embrace and continued to cry. Jongdae caressed her hair and planted a soft kiss at the top of her head. Jaemi looked up at him.
"Ch-Chen..?" She croaked out his nickname. Jongdae looked at her.
"Yes?"
"Why do you have to go..?" She asked with hurt in her voice. Jongdae frowned, staying quiet. She asked one more time.
"I'm sorry..." He simply said. Jaemi started crying again, and Jongdae cupped her face.
"Sweetie, look at me," Jongdae said. Jaemi looked at him.
"Please don't cry," He told her. She started wiping her tears away, trying to calm herself down. She hugged him tight, and he returned the embrace.
"I love you, Jongdae," she said softly. Jongdae smiled, the smile that Jaemi always loved. His charming smile.
"I love you too, Jaemi. You should sleep now," He told her.
"Only if you sing to me," Jaemi said. He chuckled and nodded, making her smile. She always love it when he sings. She lied back down on the bed, and Jongdae lied down beside her as well. Jongdae wrapped an arm around her as he started to sing a song. Jaemi closed her eyes.
"Please stay with me," Jaemi said. Jongdae smiled sadly and stroked her cheek.
"I will always be here, darling," He said. She smiled gently and he continued singing. She drifted off to sleep. Jongdae stopped singing once she is now asleep. He smiled as he looked at her adorable sleeping face. He kissed her forehead gently.
"Goodnight, Jaemi," he whispered. He will miss moments like these with her. A tear left his eye as he closed his eyes.Morning has come. Jaemi woke up and immediately sat up, looking around the room.
"Jongdae?" She called out, but no answer. Was it all a dream..? But it felt all too real. When she looked beside her, she saw a small brown teddy bear. It was the teddy bear Jongdae bought for her for Valentine's Day. She smiled gently and picked it up, hugging it tight. She remembered what Jongdae said before she fell asleep.
"You'll always be here, I know..." She mumbled to herself. She believed that he will always be there, no matter what. Her memories with him will always be there.I let you go without calling out to you
'Cause I'm scared my tears, baby
Will only get your wings wet
