A Three Leaf Clover

As I picked up my backpack, and walked out of the door, I saw Akuji walking by.
"Good morning Mateo!" she smiled
"Good morning, clover." I replied
"Hey, Mateo, I have a question." she mumbled while walking
"What's up?" I looked at her
"How come you call me that?" she asked, stopping in her tracks
"Clover? Well, you remind me of one, of course. You're like my good luck charm" I replied, stopping right next to her
"Seriously? Mateo I only bring bad luck! Everyone knows that!" she exclaimed, shaking me a bit
"Whatever, let's just get to school. We don't wanna be late, do we?" I said, calmly
"True...I'll race you!" she shouted, before running off
"Hey!! No fair!!" I yelled, running after her

Once we got to school, we went our separate ways
I walked into class, and put my books on my desk
I thought about Akuji, ignoring my English teacher
She may bring bad luck to others but..she's my good luck charm. Why can't she just realize that?

After class, I headed to my locker and got my lunch, expecting Akuji to try and scare me
But there was..nothing
No scares, no hugs, no anything
That's weird.

I headed to the cafeteria and looked around for Akuji
Still nothing..
Did she not go to class?
I wonder...

I sat at a table, and ate my lunch before heading back to my locker
"Hey! Mateo!!" someone yelled out
I instantly looked at them, but I was greeted by Raven, Akuji's friend
"What's up, Rav?" I asked
"I was just wondering where Akuji was. I haven't seen her. She didn't even come to class. Have you seen her?" she asked
"I..saw her this morning, we raced to school, and split up once we got here" I said
"that's.. odd. That's really unlike her. She never skips class. Nor misses lunch." Raven mumbled
"Yeah. We..have to wait a day to make a missing person's report.. Maybe we should call the police for an amber alert. I mean, it's 12:00 and nobody's seen her" I suggested
"..Yeah. You're right. You wanna call them? I have to head to class" Raven asked
"Uhm, sure!" I agreed, before walking outside.
I got out my phone and unlocked it, before calling Akuji
The call didn't go through
What in the world?
I kept calling her and calling her, but none of the calls would go through.
She NEVER has her phone off..
I called the police, and of course, they picked up
"911 what's your emergency?" asked the person on the phone
"Hello, uhm, I'd like to file for a amber alert. My friend Akuji is missing and I don't know where she went." I replied
"Alright, when did you last see her?" questioned the cop
"We got to school at around 8, so, I'd say somewhere between 7:50 to 8:00 am today." I mumbled
"Alright, and has anyone else seen her?" the cop asked
"She didn't come to class, so I assume no." I said
"Alright, we'll send out an amber alert. Goodbye." the cop said
"Thank you, goodbye." I whispered, before hanging up
Why..didn't she pick up?
I headed to the gym, as her next class was PE
I looked inside, but she was nowhere to be found. Nobody was. I mean, that's reasonable.
Hopefully she'll show up. PE is her favorite class

And so I waited and waited, I watched everyone who went in, but she never showed up
Then Mr. Kasari showed up
"Hey, what are you doing, Mr. Vega?" asked Mr. Kasari
"I was seeing if Akuji was here. She hasn't been seen since she got to school" I mumbled
"Hm..weird. Well, I'll ask the principal to check the cameras outside. I'll have her call you down to the office if she finds anything, even if she doesn't find anything, I'll have her call you down. This is excused because it could be a dangerous situation. Now, head to class." he said, walking off to the office
..Well. I guess I should head to class.
I headed to math class, and around 30 minutes in, I got called down to the office.
Of course, I rushed down there
"Did you find anything?!" I asked as soon as I got in
"You'll have to ask the principal, Mateo. Her office is down the hall to the left." the guy at the desk said
I walked into the office, and asked calmly "Did you find anything, Mrs. Spenser?"
"Yes. Please watch." she told me, showing me the security footage
It was me and Akuji walking into school. Exactly how it happened earlier today
Then, A few moments later, I heard someone say "Hey! Kid! Get over here!"
And there was Akuji, walking out of the school, and to the left, out of view
Then there was a scream

Akuji's scream

I started panicking
"Would you like me to call the police?" asked Mrs. Spenser
"Mrs. Spenser..I'm sorry for saying this. but.. ARE YOU DUMB?! AKUJI IS IN DANGER! OF COURSE CALL THE POLICE!" I yelled
"Alright." she said, having no reaction.
She called the police, and everyone was sent home.

As I walked home, I wondered about Akuji
Is.. she okay?
I wonder..

who would do that?

The person sounded like a guy in his 20s, but, there's no way to be sure.
I just hope..she's okay

Once I got to my house, I headed into the kitchen
"Good afternoon, kid. Have you seen Akuji? There was an amber alert for her." said my dad
"I saw her this morning, but nobody saw her after I went to my locker. They saw her walking out of school on the security cameras, but she went out of view. And then there waa a scream" I mumbled
"Oh god. Well, we just gotta hope she's okay." smiled my dad
"..Yeah.." I whispered
I headed into my room and laid on my bed

might as well sleep..
