GEUMJEONG DISTRICT, BUSAN
SOUTH KOREA"Hyung, what is this?"
A tall, raven-haired boy ran over to the couch the two siblings he always visited were sitting at, facing his phone so they could read its contents.
"Is this a joke, Jungkook? I swear if you're pranking us again I'll-"
"No, Chaeyoung noona. This happened a few minutes ago, and it's blowing up all over the internet." Jungkook frowned, scrolling through the post and showing them that it's only been posted recently.
"What the hell do they mean by this? Was this a government stunt? We just got out of Covid and now there's this?" Jimin furrowed his eyebrows, staring at the pictures intently because he didn't know whether it was a joke or not.
"This took place in Seoul.. what do they mean by unmonitored lab experiment?" Chaeyoung read out loud, confusion lacing in her voice. "They're pertaining it as some kind of species.. these were still people, but they're- they're out of their right minds."
"Zombies.. might be zombies, people in Seoul said they've been attacked by hysterical people. Thankfully some of them were able to hide." Jungkook muttered, sitting down on the couch in dismay.
"If those really are test subjects, we shouldn't call them zombies. They're still the same as us, they didn't rise from the dead." Chaeyoung corrected the youngest.
"This isn't a movie, Kook." Jimin sighed.
"I know, but just because it happens in movies, doesn't mean it's impossible." Jungkook shook his head.
The two siblings and their neighbor sat on the couch, their hearts beating loud and fast due to fear. The open TV playing a Netflix movie was drowned away from their ears while they thought about what they would do in this epidemic.
"Guess our parents were lucky they're out of the country, huh? Maybe their trip to Thailand wasn't a coincidence, after all." Chaeyoung mumbled under her breath, hands clasping together due to her fear.
"Don't worry, Chae. We'll survive this. Alice noona and Jihyun hyung will be able to keep them happy." Jimin wrapped a comfortable arm around his sister who became too anxious.
The two younger siblings stayed at home to spend their last weeks of school while their other family members went to Thailand with the Jeon Family.
"We have to.. for mom and dad." Chaeyoung frowned, wrapping an arm around the youngest too who was starting to look pale.
Silence covered the whole place while their thoughts were buzzing in their minds at the same time. They were almost planning their survival in their minds, but they were still not sure if they'd be able to survive.
"I guess my Call of Duty skills would pay off, huh?" Jungkook spoke up, joking to diffuse the tension in the living room right now.
"We should barricade all of the entryways in the house right now.." Jimin stood up, doing what he said as he shut the doors, the windows and even the fireplace close.
"And bring first aid kits.. if those subjects are all over Seoul right now, that means it'll spread here too. And we'll be obligated to go out of the house.. maybe our target place to go to is Seoul, there might be rescue vehicles that could get us away from here." Chaeyoung said abruptly, before turning to walk in her room to prepare for her things.
"That's totally a good idea, so we'll need to prepare our things, then leave as early as possible." Jimin stated.
"Then I'll get my things from the house.." Jungkook said then he ran out of the house, jogging over to his own place. Their houses were in front of each other, explaining the close relationship between the Park and the Jeon families.
Chaeyoung prayed silently as she moved past her room to get the things she needed to bring when they're on the move. With a loud beating heart, she kept on moving, gathering her things before they left.
Clothes, alcohol, bandages and she also brought her face masks that were left unused before the Covid pandemic ended. She also grabbed a rosary from her shelf, making sure to wear it before she left the room with her own necessities.
"How much food should we pack?" Jimin asked his sister, glancing down at the girl while he looked up the cupboard where their foods were in.
"As much as possible, we bring everything except for the frozen goods. Biscuits, noodles and canned goods should be fine." Chaeyoung said, placing her bag down on the couch.
She began to walk in the kitchen, grabbing every tumbler they had and she was starting to fill it with water.
"We're going to need to run a lot, Chim." Chaeyoung placed the tumblers in the duffel bag Jimin placed their foods in. "Maybe our gym sessions paid off well.. but we still need to be careful."
"Well.. if we need to catch our breaths. Jungkook would be there to hold those species off for a minute." Jimin said, joking slightly.
"Are you going to use me as a bait? That is so mean, hyung."
Jungkook entered the house, a large bag behind him while he was wearing a gym outfit with an oversized hoodie.
"Did you really have to change your clothes?" Chaeyoung asked sarcastically while she stood in her pajamas.
"Haven't you two watched Train to Busan? If we're going to be chased by a bunch of zombies-"
"Subjects." Chaeyoung cut the youngest off.
"Subjects," Jungkook rolled his eyes, setting his bag next to them. "We need to move easily, and I'm not about to fight subjects wearing jeans, that's so uncomfortable."
"First of all, Kook. The zombies in Train to Busan started from an animal.. these subjects they were talking about here in our country right now, are our own people." Jimin explained.
"But their behavior might still be the same, right? After all, movie directors depict zombies the same thing.. we might be able to have a chance to survive this, right?" Jungkook quipped.
"We're not sure, Kook. We're not sure." Chaeyoung said doubtfully.
The three of them had the familiarization when it comes to survival in a zombie apocalypse, having watched lots of movies and series about it.
But that doesn't mean they have full knowledge of what they were about to meet. There were still more information they're about to find out, and hundreds of it are waiting for them.
