Introduction to the shape shifter

There was a girl i knew when i was younger. She had short dark hair that shined a dark blue. She would get in trouble quite often for she refused to work in school. Instead she spent her time make paper airplanes with her "friends". She kept secrets even she didn't know. Her eyes as dark as the night would turn a bright brown when she cried. Her eyes were puffy and her cries were loud. The tantrums she threw 4 times a week. After each one she hated herself more. The lack of friends inviting her to play made her self conscious, though she didnt really care as long as she had her favourite teacher. But each year when her favourite teacher left she started wondering if it was her fault. She knew deep down she wasnt to blame but her mind kept telling her that no one liked her. Slowly she started crawling into a shell and a few years later she was stuck with a lot of self hating thoughts and a knife. She cut everything she owned and took her anger out on anything and everything. The numerous toys she destroyed were thrown out. Her parents threatened to throw the rest away if she misbehaved. She started to believe she didn't deserve any of it. Then one night she finally did it. The blade touching her skin sent shivers down her spine. She had found something she finally "deserved". when asked why she only replied with a simple "i dont know". Her parents made her promise not to do it ever again.
A few years later she couldnt take it and broke that promise. With the knowledge she learned the first time, she did her ankles. The place least likeliest to be noticed. It was a pain for her to have to wear socks all the time but she'd rather do that then be found out.
She stopped and started now and then. It went on for three years.
Now today they're 18 days free, they're starting to love themself a bit more each day. They discovered a few things while spending a lot of time alone. They identify as gender fluid and pansexual.
