Jihoon, a college student preparing to move into a dorm, is in his attic looking for valuables he'd like to take with him on his college journey. He is opening boxes, hoping to find some good memories. Jihoon opens one of the boxes to find VHS tapes of his favorite show, "Colors by the Rainbow". It was his favorite show growing up. The show starred a set of twins known as DK and Won, which was short for Wonwoo. They would wear this clown-like outfits, DK was a energetic clown who was always wearing bright colors, doing stunts almost every hour, and being very affectionate, meanwhile Won, being less affectionate, wore darker colors and mainly followed by walking. Won was Jihoon's favorite.
Jihoon looked deeper into the box and grabbed all the tapes with his favorite episodes, When DK got hurt from a stunt and learned to be more careful. It made Jihoon cheer up when he injured his ankle from landing on the foot wrong. The episode where Won became more accepting of DK's cheerfulness taught him to accept his friend, Soonyoung's energy even though he may not have the energy himself. All his favorite episodes taught him very valuable lessons to where he made an oath to never forget. He began humming the theme song of the show until it came to an episode he's never seen. "Episode 999? When did this air?-" Jihoon asks himself. The word episode had all colors of the rainbow but when it came to the number it was a blood red.
The writing of the numbers were not as welcoming as the letters were, but Jihoon didn't remember this episode so he deciding to hook up their old TV and sit down and watch it. He watching as intro became distorted and just cut before the chorus. The scene then cuts to the brothers facing the back, like it was in every intro, but something felt off. Their cheerful music became distorted, Won's hands where in front and not behind his back or in the pocket of his sweater, They wouldn't turn around. Jihoon watched in silence, waiting for something to happen. Right as he goes to eject the tape the brothers move, but not in a way that they should.
Their heads were the only thing to move, their heads did a complete 180. "Hi Woozi" They said in unison. 'How do they know my nickname?!' Jihoon thought to himself. "Are you not going to say Hi back?" The twins asked. Their actions were making Jihoon feel more scared than them just knowing their name. Every time they spoke their heads would either be turned inward or outward and they only spoke in unison which is unusual for them to do, they would finish each others sentences but they would never say the same thing at the same time.
"Hi?" Jihoon says. The twins turn their torsos in a 180 and turn their head back to 0 and bend forward, being closer to the screen. "Hey! Look at you, So grown up" DK says. "Yeah, you're huge now, practially my size" Won says. "Thats an exaggeration. I am 5'5"-" Jihoon says. "Whatever. You're still big. Last time we saw you was.." DK gets lost, trying to calculate how long its been. "He was eight." Won answers for DK. "Eight years old..!, Oh my god!" DK exclaims. "I know, he looks so grown. So how old are you? 16? 17?" Won asks. "I'm 19." Jihoon answers.
"19?! Oh my god" The twins say in unison. "Now how many birthday's were we not invited to?!" Won asks. "Not much." Jihoon says. Jihoon refusing to say much to them, not knowing how they can see or hear him. "Aww. He still looks as adorable as he did when he was that young little boy that would sit down every night and play our shows on the TV." DK says. "Question. Do you remember our director?" Won asks. The expressions of the twins became serious, they were staring at Jihoon through the screen. They weren't smiling or admiring how much Jihoon had grown anymore, they were awaiting an answer from Jihoon.
"Yeah, Choi Seungcheol. Of course I do. He went missing three years after the show, his case is still open because he hasn't been found." Jihoon responds. "Oh you people still believe that." Won says, Won and DK gave off a little chuckle and went back to being serious. "What do you mean.." Jihoon asks. Jihoon is terrified now that the twins said that. 'Oh you people still believe that' What the fuck was that supposed to mean. Jihoon was still unsettled by the statement of the twins, his thoughts and emotions were interrupted by the twins continuing the conversation.
"So yeah, blah blah, he went missing three years after our final episode which honestly is bullshit and lookie here, his case is open!" The twins say in unison. "What did you mean by "Oh you people still believe that?" Silence filled the room for a second but then the silence was broken by the twins laughing. "Are you sure you wanna know, Little Boy" The twins teased as they continued to laugh. The laugh of the twins showed many rows of sharp teeth and gave off a terrible aura.
"Yes. I do wanna know." Jihoon says firmly. "Alright." The twins say in a calm yet unsettling voice, the screen then goes black for about seven minutes. The screen then shows a dark room with a dark red color. Then the screen pans over to the body of their director, Choi Seungcheol, being near a wooden shelf. His head was ripped off his body with puddles of blood dried on the wood, his eyes were ripped out of the eye socket with his mouth wide open with a stick stabbed through his mouth. Underneath the shelf was his body being pinned to the wall with another stick and other sticks surrounding his body. There was blood all over the wall, his right hand had only one finger attached while the left didn't even have the hand in tact.
Jihoon was horrified at what he saw, he went and pressed the eject button multiple times but nothing was happening. The tape was still playing. The screen went black for a second and then the twins reappeared on the screen, laughing their asses off. "Honestly, Darling, You should've seen yourself, we loved that reaction" Won says. "And why are trying to leave so soon, the fun is just starting, man!" DK says. After that was said the screen shuts off and the VHS tape ejects. Jihoon snatches the tape and goes to throw it yet he stops himself. 'Not only is this tape probably the only one. But It had information of Choi Seungcheol's case'
Jihoon lowered his hand and looked over at an old stuffed animal he had. He picks up the stuffed animal and began talking to it. "I know that keeping this tape is not at all the best option, in fact it's probably the worst, but it has evidence to the director's case! He isn't missing! He was brutally murdered!" Jihoon goes and pressed the stomach of the stuffed animal. "You're my best friend" the stuffed animal says in a distorted voice. 'The batteries are old anyways.' Jihoon puts the stuffed animal back in the box he's taking and puts the tape in there too. He didn't sleep that night.
Jihoon still had all those unsettling scenes playing in his head, causing him to have nightmares. He was scared awake, he went to go message his best friend, Soonyoung.
Jihoon: Soonyoung
Jihoon: You awake?
Jihoon: Hoshi we really need to talk.
Jihoon: It's very important!Jihoon sighs. 'Hoshi's probably snoring deep into his lalaland of a brain' Jihoon went over to the box and grabbed his stuffed animal and went and sat down on his bed. He wanted to find a new show to watch on YouTube since he didn't want to see the twins faces again.
