Chapter Four

Dominic POV
“Mr Dray is waiting for you in the study, “ the butler a stout man who was the only one willing to follow me and the only one on my staff who was not human. I gave  Howard a brisk nod as he exited the room. Walking into my private study I saw my only friend and scowled
“ What are you doing here?" He cocked an eyebrow, although knowing fully well I had every right to. He smiled " Howie was nice enough to let me in though I gather you told him not to.“
" I assume you know why!, I don't think you expect me to welcome you"
“ Well, running away from your duties was wrong but I'm not here because of that , I came cause I missed you and this world. “ He took a pause “ mostly this world".
" So will you join me to the bar, to explore the finest of these species.“ He said with a sparkle in his eyes, seeing that I was not sharing his enthusiasm, he narrowed his eyes “ I can get everything but not your lack of enthusiasm at seeing your best friend. I just spent the last three weeks being your half brother Beta,which meant I cleaned all his bad decisions up. Remind me why you refuse to be the Alpha again? “
Rubbing the space between eyes as I remembered why he was my friend again.  Taking a deep breath “What did Aidan do?"
Plopping on the chaise lounge,he sighed “ there was a rogue issue two weeks, at first he wanted to kill them without the usual trial until one of the guards reported that the woman was pregnant”
He looked for a reaction in my eyes, obliging I said,” we don't kill pregnant women".
“Yeah and until your father pointed that out he was fully prepared to kill them and teh man, heater ran away from their home because of Xavier de Viklre covets his pregnant wife.“ I sighed Aidan, Bevin and Cedric my half brothers had no leadership instincts least of all Aidan bit he was extremely volatile and after he killed his younger brother Bevin I lost interest in the throne. Bevin was the saneone that kept us from becoming mad. His brother killed him because of a misread prophesy. I was the alpha not Bevin and everyone knew, but I am the youngest.
“ You know one word of your name and Aidan and his minion Cedric begin to shake” he chuckled. After the death he remembered how I nearly killed my father's other sons.

POV change

Dominic looked as though he was gonna retort, until Howard walked in carrying a brown sealed envelope and put it on the hardwood desk.“ Mr Lacey brought this, but seeing as you are busy, I intercepted it in your stead.“ Ralph raised a blonde eyebrow and waited for Howard to excuse them and asked “ who did you have investigated?" as he snatched the envelope from the table.
Pouring a glass of Brandy for him and his overinquisitive friend and watched erringly as   he opened,” a woman?!" He pretended dis interest as Ralph read the contents of the background check he had done on Isidora Storm.

“ Alumni of Havard with a degree in English literature and  History. Hear this,…” he turned to me “she has another degree within the same time frame in law at Havard,which was what she was actually admitted to study. Her twin sister Idaline Miller has a degree in law in the same school.  A philanthropic writer, a millionaire, best selling author. One of her books was develop we d into a Hollywood movie. Now the personal!“ He announced taking a swig of his drink 
“ No current boyfriend although speculation s on her connection to the Earl of Langford cousin of the crown prince. Her family runs a successful  stud service, by that I mean horses in  Louisiana. Her sister is married to an astronaut although she and her husband are estranged. They two of them were adopted on the day they were born. New year's Eve.“
Already bored, he picked up the envelope and put it on the desk and sat staring at the sparking fireplace and Ralph chuckled softly” There are only two options,you are about to destroy her or she's your mate “
" She's your mate!!!!“ he yelled
No she couldn't be, shaking his head for both their benefits. He sighed, he knew the signs and refused to believe it. Ralph refused to shut up and kept rambling on and on about how there was finally a Luna.
“ She's not human"  Dominic blandly stated. His confusion morphed into surprise then amusement." Better,a werewolf or vampire is a bette match for you!“ He shook his head, she didn't smell like either.
“ Then what is she?" He raised an eyebrow telling that his friend had stopped denying she was my mate, it was pointless to do so anyway,my behaviour gave me away.“ I don't know, she knows what Aelina and her husband are”  Dominic personally knew that she knew  he wasn't human either.

Sorry this is a short chapter, the excitement of my birthday is getting to me. No one can call me a little girl anymore 🥳.
