A couple of hours pass and then Lexi is rushed off into the ER with Andrew following.
L- babe?
A- yeah?
L- I'm scared
A- it's ok to be scared, but at least we'll have a son at the end
L- yeah I guess so
D-are you ready?
L-yeah
A- let's get started I guess
D- I'm going to have to put you on anesthesia and your husband is going to have to put on scrubs
L- he's not my husband
A- I'm her boyfriend
D- oh sorry
A- I'll go put on the scrubs
The doctor and Andrew walk in the scrubbing room
D- you guys aren't married?
A- no I planned on proposing to her when we had the baby shower but it got cancelled and we haven't really had time alone and now the baby's coming so
D- so your gonna hold off longer?
A- yeah
D- well, don't waste your time together , life goes by fast
A- do you regret not doing something in the past?
D- I held off a proposal too, she died before we ever had the right time
A- oh I'm sorry
D- what I'm saying is that there's never going to be the perfect time, just don't waste time wondering
A- when she got pregnant was the perfect night
D- it might have been, but there might never be a perfect night again
A- yeah I guess so
D- so, are you going to propose?
A- definitely after this
D- good
They walk back in
L- are you guys ready?
A- yeah, are you?
L- never, but I guess I have to be
A- you don't have to be, but we can get ready together
L- yeah
A couple of minutes later
N- waaaah waaaaah
L- he's so perfect
A- I never thought that there could be anybody more perfect than his mom but I guess I'm wrong
L- yeah
D- I'm going to have to get this baby wheeled up to the nursery and patch you up, do you want to go with your son mr Davila?
A- babe?
L- go, he needs you, I'll probably be unconscious for most of this anyways
A- ok, I'll go
The doctor puts the thing on Lexi and she falls asleep
A- I guess she wasn't lying about not being awake
D- I have to do this so her heart levels don't rise as she watches us
A- ok, well I'm gonna go
D- don't worry, I'll get her back up to you in one piece, alive
A- good, you go do your job and I'll get started on mine
D- what's yours?
A- being a dad!
Andrew and nico leave and a couple of hours pass by and Lexi wakes up in her hospital room
A- hey babe aah
L- what was that?
A- sorry I had to yawn
L- where's Nico?
Andrew points down at his chest
L- he fell asleep on you?
A- well actually, the doctor though that skin on skin contact could help him heal
L- heal from what?
A- he is just a little sick
L- did he come too early or something?
A- no the doctor knew you would ask that so he told my to tell you that he just needed a little bit of help adapting outside of your womb
L- oh ok
A- do you want to hold him?
L- yeah
A-here you go
L- he seems so warm, does he have a fever?
A- no I don't think so, but I'll page the doctor
L- now who has the pager?
A- yeah yeah, I have a pager to use. They gave me one while you were asleep
L- oh, did I miss anything else?
A- not that I know of. I left with nico before they started sewing you back up, the doctor basically kicked me out of the room
L- yeah I guess I kind of did too
The doctor comes in
D- what seems to be the problem
L- does nico have a fever?
D- who?
L- the baby
D- oh, no the baby does not have a fever
L- then why is he so warm?
A- is there anything that you could test for because I don't know if babies are supposed to be this warm after their born
D- he should be ok, but I'll get a pediatrician down here to check him
L- why can't you do it?
D- I don't have the right equipment or surgical technique to serve a baby
L- but aren't you an OB?
D- yes, I mostly work on the mothers and the babies before their born
L- oh ok
D- I promise, I will get somebody down here to check up your baby
A and L- thank you
D- no problem
