It's almost as if time froze once I said that. I stayed rooted in my spot, too afraid to move, while my father face turned to one of disgust. Neither of us said anything for a few moments until he spoke up.
"I understand that you don't want a girlfriend right now, but you don't have to make up a disgusting excuse about you being gay." He says, trying to shrug off what I said.
I shook my head. "I'm not lying, father. I'm gay. I have no interest in women."
"You dated Aria." My father reasoned and I rolled my eyes.
"Because of you! I never wanted to date her but you forced me to. Father, no matter what you say, I'm going to be gay. I'm going to like men." Once saying that, I feel a hard slap against my cheek, whipping my head to the side.
I wince slightly in pain and turn my head back to face him. "I will not have a son that is gay! Do you know what that would do to the family business if anyone found out? Not to mention the fact that it is disgusting."
"Father-" I try to interrupt but he won't let me get a word in.
"Here's what we are going to do. You are going to date Andrea. She will get you over the whole 'gay issue.'"
"I won't get over the whole 'gay issue,' father. I am who I am and you can't change that!" I screamed at him, causing him to deliver another hit, only this time it was to my stomach. Damn, that was right where I was hit last time.
"We will see about that. On Monday, Andrea will meet you at the front of the school and you will act like the proper boyfriend. You will hold her hand, walk her to class, and kiss her. I don't care what you think about it and that is final. Eventually, you will stop being gay and will fall in love with her." He said before walking away, not letting me respond.
I walk back upstairs and go into my room, locking it behind me. Going into my bathroom, I grab a painkiller from the cabinet and swallow it dry. Lifting up my shirt, the original bruise I had definitely got darker. I lightly press on it before letting out hiss in pain.
Walking back into my room, I lay on my bed and begin to think. There was no way in hell I was staying in this house longer than I have to. Maybe I could get a job and make some money. I already have money in my bank account so I could use some of that to buy a car. Then I would not have to deal with driving with Savio or Lorenzo. I graduate in two months, so after that, I could potentially move out.
Fuck it. Getting off the bed, I put some shoes on and grab my wallet and phone. I walk down to the garage and see Savio's car keys on the rack. Grabbing them, I jump into his car and drive to the nearest car dealership. Why should I have to wait to get my own car?
The dealership had a wide range of cars and I took my time to browse. After about thirty minute of looking and test driving cars, I finally settled on a gray Mercedes. Going into one of the offices, I sign all the necessary paperworks and pay for the car. Luckily, all the money in my bank account came from birthday money and a set amount that my brothers and I get when we turn eighteen.
Once everything is done, I give Savio a call. "Where the hell are you?" He asks once he picks up.
"I'm at a car dealership. I took your car though so you and Lorenzo need to come pick it up."
"You bought a car?!" Savio exclaims.
"Yep. Now you don't have to worry about dropping me off at school. Or about me taking your car."
He curses under his breath. "Goddamn it, Nico! I'm going to kill you."
I wave it off. "Yeah yeah. Now, I'm on my way home. You should probably get here and take your car back. I'll see you at home." I disconnect the call and go to my new car.
