Katsuki was crowned king after his father passed away from an unforeseen illness. The illness took him swiftly, as if waiting to pounce for years. His mother had died two years before that, due to the same illness.
Katsuki being who he is, has doubts that both were poisoned. The deaths far enough part as if to ensure the suspicions of Mitsuki's death were forgotten. The thing that caught Katsuki's attention, however, was the fact that both of his parents died on the exact same day; exactly two years apart.
The blond was a prideful alpha, even as a child. He showed everyone he was the best and put anyone down that even thought about standing up to him. The other children envied his confidence, but feared him at the same time - especially considering he's the crowned prince.
Katsuki never really cared about his status as a kid, but as he got older, he realised how useful it was, and how people cowered before him. He loved the looks on peoples faces as he walked past them and how they trembled in fear - even alphas - because there's no higher status than a dominant alpha king.
However, something that didn't discriminate across alphas was the natural need for an omega. A small omega that will submit, mate, and bear their children.
The explosive blond had always tried to put off the fact of finding a mate. He's the king after all! He can do whatever he wants, wherever he wants, whenever he wants. But recently, as he had turned twenty two, the desire for a mate had spiked, the need he'd put away for so long, surfacing and peaking through the cracks brighter than ever.
He needed a mate. A queen to give him pups... a queen to show off to the kingdom and to claim as his own.
Another important factor is that he's never really cared for materialistic, or beautiful things... but he wants an omega that is so gorgeous, everyone grovels before him, jealous of the omega he managed to snag.
Even if he had to take it by force.
Lately, he'd heard rumours going around about a clever, swift omega that's managed to escape capture from kingdoms multiple times. The 'legend' says that he's so astoundingly beautiful, kings and queens alike would pay mass amounts of money, and would fight to have him rule by their side. Some say it's just folktale, whilst others swear they'd seen him with their own eyes.
Either way, Katsuki wanted him. Badly. He wanted to brag about how he had the omega everyone else wanted. He wanted to show him off to the other kingdoms, like someone with a bottle of water in the middle of a desert, as if to hold it up like a child in a playground taunting the other children... "ha look what I've gotttt!"
He imagined the scenario perfectly. But he just needed to get his hands on this mysterious omega that somehow manages to slip through everyone's fingers. That's okay though... he's always loved a challenge. And who's going to escape a dominant alpha king that has five out of the nine kingdoms under his rule?
He will catch him and he will mark him. Whether he likes it or not.
The rumours had been swirling around his kingdom even more lately... hushed whispers saying that the omega was passing through, trying to get to the Todoroki kingdom: Endeavour.
Todoroki had half white and half red hair - split straight down the middle, accompanied by a scar on his left eye. Katsuki knew how he got the scar, and was impressed at how he got through that at such a young age and came out of it to rule his kingdoms like a true alpha.
Katsuki and Todoroki had formed an alliance when Katsuki was originally crowned; him making it his first plan. Out of the nine kingdoms, Todoroki rules over three, so he was a great comrade to have. The blond understood why the alliance wasn't made sooner - what with the previous king being abusive and all - but he knew it was a smart move now the older Todoroki was dead.
