** Megumi's POV **
I woke up the following morning and walked out of my room and towards the school. Just before I left, I turned to look at the door where YN would rest. Ever since Y/N had disappeared from the mission ten days ago, I somehow felt uneasy. Normally, on any school day, she'd burst through the door wide open with a smile on her face, saying:
'Morning Megumi! Let's do our best with our curse energy!'
Oh, how I miss that sound of her voice!
I reached towards the door to knock, but I became hesitant at first.
If I knocked, would she even answer?
And if I opened the door, would she appear in front of me?
All these thoughts flooded my mind as I moved my hand away from the door."Morning, Megumi." a different voice called out from a distance.
I looked to see Itadori standing across the hall, seeing me close to her door.
"Oh, morning Itadori."
"Has YN come back today?"
"No... normally, she'd be up by now, swinging this door wide open."
"Oh, I see..."
"Any luck asking Sukuna about her whereabouts?"From what I understood, Itadori had somehow made contact with Sukuna back from our last mission. With this new information, I asked Itadori to help me contact Sukuna without bringing him out to find out where I can find her.
"So far, no luck, man. I'm sorry."
I sighed.
At least, it was worth asking."Thanks anyways... I'm heading out now."
"Want me to come with you?"
"No thanks. I need to be alone right now."I walked away from Itadori and went straight to the temple where I always pondered on things. As I sat down on the steps of the temple, I recalled the conversation I had with Sukuna that day:
"Since when has she become your property, Fushiguro? No need to be offensive over this."
"Why is she important to you? Are you friends with her, or is it because she's your soulmate?"
"Having the girl of your dreams be snatched away by a monster like me that you never stood a chance even if you tried."
"Then why are you wanting to protect her if she isn't yours? Stop worrying about her. Shouldn't you be protecting yours instead?"
"Wouldn't be possible that you met the wrong soulmate?"Brushing my black raven hair with my hand, I sighed and glanced up towards the clear sky.
"Ever since she died, I was unable to return to the colorless world to meet another soulmate again." I pondered out loud, "So why? Why was YN the only person I had issues with when she found her soulmate? And with the King of Curses, no doubt. He's the worst possible being to ever become soulmates with. Especially since he's doomed to be executed!"
I growled angrily as I continued to think of her getting close to Sukuna. Within an instance, I felt something stabbing my heart, and yet, I wasn't sure why I felt that way before.
"Am I..." I asked myself, but started to shake my head drastically. "No! I can't be. No one can have another soulmate once your primary soulmate has died. But what if..."
As I continued to think about this matter, someone else was coming towards my direction.
"Having second thoughts down there?" a voice calls out.
I looked up towards the voice in question and saw that it was one of the new students Gojo introduced us a while back: Nobara. While I don't know much about her, I guess it would seem okay to talk about it with someone.
*****
"I see," she replied, "So it looks like she's finally have a chance to see colors, but the soulmate she's with isn't that great of a person."
"Pretty much, yeah."
"And you're worried that she'll end up broken or worse dead if she continues to be with him."
"Yeah..."
"Well, then what's the problem with that?"
"What do you mean by that?"
"Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't like the fact she's with a bad of a guy, but if you think about it: she wouldn't be able to see the colors if he meant something to her. No one ever gets that chance to see colors in their lifetime. So..."I glanced at Nobara for a brief moment as a small teardrop stated to swell underneath her eye lid.
"I get it. Thanks."
"For what?"
"For listening to me about it."I looked back up towards the sunny sky, thinking all about what she said.
"Maybe she's right." I thought to myself, "I shouldn't be jealous of her happiness since she'll never have that chance again at all. But still, where could she be?"
What I didn't know then was something else waiting for Itadori on the inside.
*** Reader's POV **
After Itadori spoke with Megumi, he walked towards a different direction, in a strange temple given by Gojo himself. As he prepared to enter into one of the rooms, he looked both ways and quietly entered the room.
"Did anyone follow you?" Gojo asked as Itadori entered the room.
"Don't think so, but why do you want such a quiet meeting?"
"Because...you and your soulmate are going to be training your curse techniques together!"
"Wait. What do you mean by-"He stopped speaking right then as he noticed a familiar figure entering the room from the shadows. It was YN, alive and well.
"YN? Is that you?"
"Yeah, it is."
"But how did you find her, Gojo?"
"Let's just say, fate had brought me right at her."Which it wasn't a lie on his part.
How it went was when Gojo found her, she was lying there near the campus grounds, barely breathing. Looks like she had just got back from a dangerous attack, or something based on the tattered clothes she came in. However, when he was carrying her as best as he could, somehow, he was unable to touch her. That was when, he noticed something on the back of her nape: a devil's mark. Probably from Sukuna. Which did explain why he asked her at first when she regained conscious hours later.
He couldn't tell that to Itadori, unfortunately.
How can he?
It's not like he could say:
"Hey, so, she is going to die as well simply because of Sukuna's curse etched on her nape. So, you finally got a suicide buddy~"
That would devestate Itadori completely, when all he was doing was all for the sake of their lives.
So that information was meant to be classified for now, until he's ready."So let's begin your training!"
