ALEX'S POV:
I was really not in the mood to go to school, since I am going to a new school today. I gripped my backpack and walked inside the school. North Ridge High School. How basic can this be? Its better than my old school though. I walked to the locker in many halls with unfamiliar faces and voices. "Alex!" I finally heard a familiar voice. My cousin, Viola. She's gone here her whole life.
"Hey Viola!" I fake a smile and wave to her as I try to open my locker. "Don't worry" she reads my mind. "I'll introduce you to some people. They're amazing!" She giggles. "Also you can carry your book bag around" she adds. "Thank god" I whisper and shut my locker. "Now come to home room! I'll show you!" Viola grabs my arm and drags me to home room.
"Hey guys! This is my cousin Alex!" Viola says as I walk in the doorway. "Hey" I smile. "Hi! Nice to meet you! I'm Hailey!" Hailey aggressively shakes my hand. "I'm Alex, I heard a lot about you!" I say and gesture to Viola. "Yeah I talk about you a lot babe!" Viola kisses Hailey's head. "Wait..are you an ally?" Hailey asks. Me and Viola both glance at each other. "I'm gay" I laugh and she sighs. "Thank god!" Hailey smiles. A girl walks up to us. "Hi, I'm Domonique . I'm A friend of Viola's!" Domonique smiles. "Nice to meet you!" I say.
My eyes were suddenly drawn to a boy in the back of the room. Shit. He had gorgeous brown eyes, and light brunette hair that looked hella soft. "Who's that guy? He's breathtaking!" I whisper to them. "Thats Walker. He's quiet." Hailey whispers. I walk over to him and he looks up. "Hey, I'm Alex!" I smile and he just stares at me. "Are you ok?" I ask and he bites his lip. "Y-yeah I'm good..sorry haha. I'm Walker" He laughs it off and I shake his hand. Our hands linger for a second after we shake hands.
"Sit down class!" My home room teacher says. I sit beside Walker. Viola sits in front of him. Hailey sits beside me and Domonique sits in front of me. "What class is this?" I whisper to Walker. "We have a half hour of study hall and then this is math after" He explains. "But we can talk during s-study hall because it's the first day" "Oh okay, thanks! Can I give you my number? We should be f-friends!" I say. Why did I stutter when saying friends? "S-sure" Walker shyly smiles. I tear a piece of paper out of my notebook and write my number. I sneakily hand it to Walker.
"You're definitely already growing a crush on him. But he either hasn't came out, or he's straight" Domonique explains. "Yeah..I just hope he hasn't came out yet" I whisper and she nods. All my classes go by like a flash. I grab my lunch and I look around. I don't see Hailey, Viola or Domonique though. A hand waves to me and it's Walker. Butterflies run through my stomach. I walk over to him and sit down with his friends. "The girls are gonna be here in a second" Walker says. "Hi, I'm Alex" I say to his friends. "This is Landon, Jayden, Will, Cole, Jordie, Lasyn, and Robin" Walker introduced me.
"We have heard so much about you" Landon smiles. "We're here!" Viola says and they sit down. "So...Alex..do you like this school so far?" Will asks me. "Yeah. A lot of people are very welcoming. My old school wasn't like that" I admit. "How was your old school?" Cole asks. "It was awful. They called me slurs all the time and it just sucked" I bit my lip. "Our school is much more welcoming" Jordie points out. I hope everything goes smooth here.
