disclaimer: brief mentions of abuse, being abandoned and the loss of a loved one.

My eyes fluttered open gently, the sun rays shining through my blinds stinging my eyes. My mum shook me gently, "wake up darling!" she spoke softly.

I loved my mum, she had always been here for me. Even when I was getting abused when I was 6, ten years ago, by my father. She would always stand up for me, even though that made my mother get abused too.

My father had constantly left throughout my life, coming back every few months before leaving after staying with us for about 8 months. He usually left because he had cheated or had enough of me and my mother.

This caused me extreme abandonment issues, because I wasn't sure if he would return, maybe leave us for good, or if he was just going to return months later.

"What? What happened mum," I slowly sat up. My mother chuckled, "it's your first day at the new school, it's 6:45am and we have to be at the platform to board the train at 8:15am, so try get quickly ready!" she smiled, before walking out of my room.

All I had laid out was a robe, some tights and a skirt and a shirt. I presumed I would get a tie there, as from what I have heard from other witches and wizards is that they sort you into houses, and then you get a tie with the colour of your house.

It sounds cool, I know. However, I had lost my best friend a few months back. Throughout the summer holidays, I had decided to transfer from Beauxbatons, for a fresh start. My mother agreed to move to England so we could both have a new life.

My father was aware of our new address, my mother had sent him a letter informing him, in case he ever came back to us. I doubted it though, it had been a year since he last left us, he never takes that long to run back.

I quickly got dressed, grabbing my wand and using a charm to curl my hair loosely. My mum and me had already packed everything I would need, into 2 decent-sized trunks. Though, to save myself the embarrassment of carrying a lot more trunks, I had used a charm so they were bottomless. Yet still looked like a normal trunk from the outside.

I brushed my teeth quickly, and then sat down at my vanity. I did some light makeup, topping it off with really light false eyelashes that looked natural.

I looked quite nice, I believe. By 7:45am, I was ready, and so me and my mum got in the car and began driving to the train station. I brought my owl, she was called Lucia, with black fur and orange eyes, obviously.

Once we arrived, it was 8:00am, and I saw a large group of redheads, pushing their carts and running through the middle of Platform 9 and Platform 10. "Goodbye mum," I smiled, as she planted a kiss on my head and waved me off as I ran in the same way.

I thought my head would probably crash off, but I surprisingly stepped out and saw a lively platform of over 1000 people, probably.

There were littler ones, then much older people scurrying about in a hurry. I put my trunks and my owl in the same place everyone else was, knowing the magic would sort it out.

I felt a bit odd, I was going to go into sixth year, meanwhile all the other sixth years would have been there many years, which made me feel a bit awkward.

I boarded onto the train, hoping to find an empty compartment. All of them were packed, and as I was walking around, I saw three girls and two boys. One of the girls was blond, she was very very pretty. Her hair was curled neatly and styled beautifully.

She looked up at me, before gasping. "Oh my god! You're the new girl aren't you? Come sit with us!" she smiled.

I did so, thanking her and taking a seat next to one of the boys, as that was the only space available. He threw me distasteful look, to which I scowled at and turned to the others.
