I was excited while boarding the flight to Singapore with my family. The journey was about 4 hours. The flight in which we were travelling was the Singapore airlines, it is the flag carrier airline of Singapore with its hub at Singapore Changi airport.
The English name for the country, 'Singapore' has been derived from the native Malay name for the country Singapore which was in turn derived from the Sanskrit word for ' lion City.' Singapore is a very small, heavily urbanised, island city- state in South east asia, located at the end of the Malayan peninsula between Malaysia and Indonesia. Singapore consist of 63 Islands. Singapore has four official languages English, Malay, Mandarin and Tamil.
Singapore's history dates back at least a millennia having been a Maritime emporium. It's contemporary Era began in 1819 when Stamford Raffes established Singapore as a trading post of the British Empire. In 1867, the colonies of southeast Asia where reorganised and Singapore came under the direct control of British Empire. During the second World war, Singapore was occupied by Japan in 1942 and return to British control as a separate crown colony following Japan's surrender in 1945. Singapore gained self- governance in 1959 and in 1963 became a part of the new federation of Malaysia.
We landed in Singapore Changi airport at early morning. It is a major civilian international airport that serves Singapore, and is one of the largest transportation hubs in Asia. As one of the world's busiest airports by international passengers and cargo traffic it is currently rated the world's best airport by skytrax and is the first airport in the World to do so for 8 consecutive years. After landing we gathered our luggage from the conveyor belt and went to our hotel. While going to the hotel I noticed that the roads were very clean and there were cctv cameras everywhere and then I realise how discipline country it is. After taking rest in our hotel we went to Singapore zoo , formali known as the Singapore zoological garden or Mandai Zoo. This zoo is operated by the Mandai wildlife reserve, which also manages the neighbouring Night Safari, River wonders, The Jurong Bird Park as well as the fourth coming Rainforest wild park. We then also went for the Night Safari, it is the world's first nocturnal zoo located in Mandai, Singapore.
The second day we went to Singapore flyer which is an observation wheel at Downtown Core. It was officially opened on 15 April 2008, it has 28 air conditioned capsules, each able to accommodate 28 passengers. The height of the Singapore flyer is about 5041 feets.
