Keroberos paused his game, turning around to face the newest Cardcaptor. The young magic-user was fiddling with the lock on the Sakura Book, staring at the wall even as he opened and closed the book, filling the room with faint, repetitive clicking sounds. The repetitive motion continued until Kero flew to the boy, placing a paw onto his hand.
"Fidgeting? That usually means Mido-bro's thinking right?" Kaminari asked, looking to said boy in the audience, "What ya thinking about my man?"
Letting out a bubbling laugh, Izuku scratched at his head softly.
"Honestly, there's too many things that I wouldn't even know." he replied, making his friends smile in such a characteristic answer.
Izuku jolted slightly, looking down at his companion in surprise. "Kero?" Green eyes found their way to the paused game and the boy sighed. "Do you need help again?" It wasn't a distraction per se, but Izuku's mind wasn't fully in it, something that didn't go unnoticed by Kero.
The plush shook his head, "Nah, but I was wondering what's got you thinking so hard?" Izuku ducked his head slightly. For the past three days, the greenette has been distant, always going into bouts of silence, staring at nothing. Something was bothering the boy, but neither Inko nor Kero knew what.
Izuku's cheeks heated, and he knew that his freckles were standing out against the flush--which only made him blush harder.
"Ah, I'm glad I'm not the only one who does that!" Uraraka laughed, flustered, covering her face with her hands. "I can always tell when I'm, blushing, and when I realise it, I just blush even more!"
"Aww, that's just a part of your Uraraka-ness!" Mina cheered, patting her hand on Ochaco's back, "Embrace it!"
"Ah- well... I was just thinking about the Cards I already have?" A hand made its way to his head in embarrassment. "You say they're sentient, so I was worried that... gah, this is dumb. "
Kero frowned. "What's dumb?"
"I worry that the Cards don't...like me," the boy said quietly. "I- I mean, they might not like just- sitting around, not being used like Arrow was. Like, maybe I'm not treating them right?" Izuku let out a sigh, falling backwards onto his bed.
"But how could they not like Mister Deku? He's so nice to them, and tries to befriend them!" Eri asks, eyes wide in genuine confusion.
"I'm sure the cards know that Midoriya-kun isn't a Master that will mistreat them" Koda mutters gently, thinking of the cards like compassionate company- like beloved pets!
"I don't know..."
Kero watched his companion, feeling empathy for the boy. They sat there for a moment before the golden guardian perked up, walking to the discarded Sakura Book on the bed beside them.
"I don't know why you're so concerned whether or not they like you," Kero began, fishing for information that will be purely beneficial.
"It's just part of his heroic personality to make sure all is well, I suppose." Hitoshi sighed, but a smirk could be heard in his voice, teasing but not taunting.
At his comment Izuku flailed an arm to the side, grunting.
"I'm the Cardcaptor," he began, "so I have to collect all the cards, but I also want to be a hero and help people. Without a quirk, my best chances are the Cards, but if they don't even like me, how could I ever ask for their help?" He takes a deep breath. "How can I be a hero if all I use are Cards that hate me?"
