Chapter 1

So here we are again. The dreary wur of the fan in the background is making this whole expirence more mind numbingly boring. The flakey paint on the school walls seems to be clinging on for dear life. The greying headteacher at the front of the hall is still going on about 'how we shouldn't be this', and all the students I can see seem like they would rather be anywhere else. Welcome to Heatherbury Highschool, your typical private school.
We all shuffle off towards our classrooms, except I'm running. Well, in my head I am. 'No running on the paths.' I can see Crystal in the distance, chatting, flicking her perfect gold locks and laughing. Even though we are twins, we look nothing alike. She has gold hair, like the sun. Mine has turned dish water blond and limp. Her eyes are startling blue, mine are greyish green. She is 5ft 6, I am 5ft 3. You get the idea.
She waves towards me, but I know that she doesn't really want me to ruin their perfect time. I eventually catch up with my sister and her hornet friends. I can hear their buzzing from about 4 yards away. I can see my friends over in the distance, so I quickly 'walk' over to them.
"Zoe! Good to see you." I know who it is even without looking at their purey white skin.
" Good to see you too Fi."
Fion is my best friend and has been since year 4 of junior school.
"So what has your sister been doing? Did you see what she posted on Facebook last night?" And there it is. This is what I have to deal with everyday of my life. Why can't I have a conversation with my best friend without mentioning Crystal?
Without saying another word, we wander into our History class.
I sit right at the back, which is good for if you have no interest in history at all, which is me, and perfect for drawing in your sketch pad without getting spotted by a teacher. Me again. The bell rings and the 18 of us who made the mistake of taking history file in. Fortunately, we have a supply, so there is no need to hide my sketch pad today. As we settle down, I notice that there is an imposter sitting right next to me. I stare for a moment at the back of a head. A back of a head that is full of thick brown hair. Gorgeous brown hair. As he starts to turn around to face me, I sheild my face with my hair, and wait. Through the hood of hair I have just emersed myself in again, I can see dark mysterious eyes that are screaming 'run away with me',  tanned skin and a really cute button nose. Full pick lips lift slightly as I turn my head, gradually moving the hair away. His eyes smile before his lips do. If I was crystal, I would know just what to do here. I smile back, and then continue with my drawing. "Idiot!" The voice in my head mutters, "you didn't even ask his name!" I sketch furiously. I can feel my emotion going head first on to the page. I twitch and go redder still when someone gently lifts my hair above my page, breaking my sheild.
"You're really good!" he tells me. His brown eyes honest. I freeze in my seat.  Still peaking through my hair, I lift my head.
"Thank you." I say quietly.
"I hope I didn't startle you, but I didn't know your name. My name's Noah." I stare into those eyes. I knew I didn't see him here before!
"My name is Zoe." I say shyly, looking at the small details on his face, like the little freckles just below his eyes, or the strand of hair that falls on the sharp line of his cheek bone.
I start to jot down the notes from the documentary that is playing , and I can feel his eyes burn onto the side of my face. When he isn't looking, I steal glances at his face. It is perfect. Too perfect the voice in my head says loudly and clearly. I can feel him lean towards me. I breathe in, waiting. Anticipating.
"You're the only person I have plucked up the courage to talk to today. I can tell that you are shy, I can see it in your eyes. But that's okay, because I can talk all day!" He says, staring right through my eyes into my skull. I can feel my mouth twitch into a smile, and I laugh.
"That's great! You are the only person that I have spoken to in forever that has gone through an entire conversation, and not mentioned my sister." I say, shocked at the words that have just spilled out of my mouth. Noah laughs at this, as Mrs Goodwin gives us devil eyes, we both break into a series of unprecedented giggles.
"Not so shy after all then? I have a way of getting through to people." He wiggles his eyebrows and winks, which sends me in to full on laughing.
"I don't care about whoever your sister is. She hasn't made an immpression on me like you have." I smile as I glow from the inside out. I haven't felt this good in a long time. My heart feels warm, and I feel happy.

After the day comes to an end, I feel like a part of me has been replaced. I feel brand new. I see my sister and the hornets approach me.
"So Zoe, wanna come out to the town after school? I have seen the cutest dress ever that I MUST have, and there is a film on we all wanna catch, to celebrate it being the last day of school? Do you wanna come?" A girl named Veronica squeels. The 7 girls surrounding stare intently at me. The horets are poised and ready to sting.
"Okay then. Meet you by the cinema at 4?"
"OMG! Yes of course Zoe. Tell crystal to come as well yeah?" Their eyes relax and they all smile at me. I am safe this time. I nod as I walk out of the gates.
