The Professors assistant (Tom Hiddleston x Reader)

Dont get too crazy

ATHENAS POV

My first impression of Tom was that he was stressed. We didn't talk long enough for me to have proof but I could simply just tell. Especially when he pulled out his phone to read I'm guessing a message.
Also, he's handsome.. like strikingly handsome. And I could feel him looking at me from the corner of his eye. Trying to read me.
But I also saw his ring. I don't have any feeling towards him but I do know that everything needs to be simply professional.

Todays a new day. I spent most of my day doing errands. Grocery shopping, and looking for furniture since I finally got my own apartment.
It was time to go to the uni now. So I called my uber 20 minutes early so that I wouldn't be late this time.

I finally got to the uni and walked through the halls till I opened the large door to the classroom.
I didn't see Tom anywhere so I walked down the steps and up to the desk, setting my things down and walking around the desk to sit in my chair. But before I sat down something caught my eye.
It was Tom and another woman holding hands at the beach. They were laughing and looked happy. I smiled as I looked at the picture. Seeing his genuine smile.

"Good evening"

I jumped and looked up. Tom was infront of the desk with a handful of papers. He sat them down and looked back up at me
"Oh. Good evening" I looked away and sat in my seat then sipped on the coffee I got on the way.

"You're here early" he said walking into a closet that I'm guessing had supplies and such inside

"I am. Didn't wanna be late again" I chuckled

"Right" he walked back out with a stack of books in his hands then sat them down.

"So what's the plan today?" I ask

"Well i would like the students to begin reading Coriolanus and finish these packets that are due next week. That is the plan" he answers

"That's all?" I ask

He walks around the desk and sits down, opening his laptop "What do you mean?"

"I mean you just give them a book, tell them to read it and that's all?"

He looks at me with an eyebrow raised "you're judging my way of teaching?" He asks

"Well no I just- nevermind" I take a drink of my coffee and take out my phone.

Time passed along with a burning silence. I hope I didn't upset him. I didn't mean too.

Students began to come in and sit down. Chatting softly to eachother and laughing occasionally.

"Good evening everyone. I didn't get a chance to introduce Ms. Wills yesterday so" he spoke and my head raised up quickly

"Ms. Wills will be here as my assistant. If you need me and I'm not here, or if you may need assistance with any work that is handed out, then Ms.Wills will be your second option." He looks over at me and nods. Letting me know to stand up and introduce myself

"Hello" I wave at everyone. They don't say a word. They just stare.
"Let's try this again...hello!"

They all say hello back "great" I clap my hands together "as you know I'm Ms.Wills..BUT you guys can call me Athena if you want. I'm excited for this year so hopefully you all learn some stuff and we get to have some fun while doing it!" I wave at everyone and take my seat again. Looking up at Tom I see his eyes are narrowed at me. I break the contact and take another sip of my drink...what's his deal?

45 minutes passed and I've already handed out the books and packets to each person. I tapped my finger on his desk. Looking up every few minutes from my phone to see if anyone needed anything. I guess my tapping annoyed Tom because he grabbed my hand
"Please" he whispered
"Sorry" I whispered back

He removed his hand and continued on his laptop.
I sighed and began to hum along to a song that's been stuck in my head

"Ms.wills" he whispered I shot my head up

"Yeah? What's up?"

"If you must hum, could you do it outside of the room?"

"Sorry" I said once again

The hour of class was up and Tom stood up "everyone have a good rest of your night. I will see you next Monday and don't forget to finish your packets "

After he spoke I stood up quickly "and have a great weekend! Don't get too crazy!" I yelled causing some students to laugh and wave at me which of course I waved back.

Once everyone left Tom cleared his throat "what are you doing?" He asked

"What?"

"What was all that about? And why would you tell them to call you by your first name?"

"Uhh because I'm a person and my name is Athena. Also, it's boring you need some excitement up in here" I say
He comes around the desk and walks straight up to me " Boring?! I do not need you to tell me how to run my class"

"Well I'm sorry but did you see them dosing off? It's kinda lame in here." I say "I would fall asleep too.." I mumble under my breath

He exhaled sharply then turns on his heel, collecting his belongings. I grab my bag and phone then turn to him "I hope you have a great weekend too Mr.Hiddleston." I begin to walk up the steps "don't get to crazy!" I yell before opening the door and shutting it.

TOMS POV

Once I get back home I sit in my car. Not wanting to go inside and even look at her. But I must.
Opening the door I'm greeted by a plate being thrown at the door frame

"What the hell!!" I yell

"Are you cheating on me!!" Monica screams at me. Her makeup smudged and hair disheveled

"What?! No! Why would I-"

"Don't fucking lie to me Tom!" She yells and throws another plate but I dodge it

"Monica stop! Those are my mothers plates!" I yell. I drop my briefcase and run up to her and she slaps me across the face then pushes me back.

"Who is she?!" She yells

"Who is who?! I'm not cheating on you Monica I would never do such a thing!"

She begins to sob, running her hand through the knots in her hair "you won't leave me?" She asks

"Never" I reply

"Do you promise me?"

"I...yes, my dear. I promise you"
She wraps her arms around my torso, pulling me in tight

"I just love you so much" she cries into my jacket . She looks up at me "do you love me?" She asks

Hesitantly I answer "...yes I-" I exhale "I love you"
She smiles and put her head back on my chest.
