There are some things that happen in this world we might not ever be able to make sense of.
Life throws lessons at you whenever it wants, the higher power we are constructed from is constantly pushing you to your limits.
Perhaps those lessons manifest in a breakup, or a friendship ending, we as humans hold no certainty within our hearts to when or how they may come.
It's going to hurt.
The pain may be temporary, like warm water over a cut that hasn't fully healed; Or the pain might stick around for a little longer.Throughout our lives we each grab onto things to help us through these tests.
Some of us use illicit substances, trying to break our bodies down to the core to see what we're really made of, whilst others may seek refuge in something as simple as a book.
There are those of us who are pre-disposed to fight these battles on our own. We tense our chests and prepare for the knife to be placed right through us, with knowledge our skin is strong enough to heal before we lose too much blood. These are the people we find ourselves admiring.
We admire them for the way they can be impaled and still walk off the battle field, we admire them for the way they throw seeds into a wound and flowers grow. Some of us don't hold the capacity to cauterise the wound the moment it occurs. We might let it bleed to feel alive in the moments we feel numb, some of us may even take a knife to our own skin- for the only way we feel valid is for it to scar.
We may deprive our bodies of nutrients and watch ourselves fade away, years of torment about body image holding our hand as we do so.
Whether we're soldiers with steel chests, or damaged souls who let ourselves bleed, there is one thing each and everyone one of us have in common.
The capacity to heal. The steel in our chests will grow stronger,
The cut that you construct will close,
The voice that tells you to skip that meal will hush,
The sickness in your brain will begin to aid.We as humans are designed to heal until we no longer can,
we do not all have to have ribs of iron to do so.
