DIANE was staring at all the pictures Elmo and her took she remembered how happy they were. She loved him so much, that she is willing to give up anything for him. Knowing that Elmo was cheating on her, she decided to end everything between them. Though it hurts, she didn’t like to continue their relationship that was full of lies. She cannot can’t pretend she was okay with what he did to her. Diane Wanted to let go so she decided to accept her grandmother’s offer in coming home to the States. She couldn’t help but cry over those painful lies that ruined everything. She grieved for a few more weeks and burned all the things Elmo gave her and those pictures they took together. Her room was clear, the pictures on the wall were gone, not leaving any trace of Elmo’s existence in her life. She packed her things and went to bed early. Ready to leaving in the morning.

She said her goodbyes to her parents and to the house where she lived since she was 10. The house who witnessed their relationship until they broke up. They hugged her as if it’s the last time they will see their daughter. They accompanied her to the airport, watching her as she turned her back and left them. She checked in and boarded the plane. As she sat inside she looked outside the window and remembered the first time they arrived there. Life was good until several incidents took place. She hated leaving the States just like that but she had no other choice left. Just like that she considered leaving a new start.

When she arrived in Manila her grandmother welcomed her with tight hugs and a lot of kisses. “Welcome home, darling” her grandmother said with a jolly face. For the first time in seven years, she was able to hug her granddaughter again. “Are you hungry, Yanni?” Uncle Ted asked. “Uncle Ted!” She hugged him tightly why saying “I missed you so much”. She wasn’t able to see her favorite uncle for a very long time. On their way home Diane decided to take a nap after a very long trip back home. Tired as she may be she easily fell asleep in the backseat.

They arrived at the house at about 11 pm. All of them where well. Celine, her cousin hugged her. Due to the travel Diane fell too sleepy that she didn’t eat dinner anymore. She went straight to her old bedroom and picked by her favorite teddy bear on the table she used to sit on when she was a little kid. She walked down memory lane again that brought her to fall asleep faster.

As the sun shone in the sky she woke up and hurriedly went downstairs. Ate breakfast and changed as fast as she could. Too excited to go around the neighbourhood. Their street changed a lot. It was way different from before. As she was walking down the road she walked right in front of Darlene, one of her best friends.

“DIANE!” Darlene called.

“Darlene? Long time no see.” She replied

“How are you? Its been 7 years.” She added

“I really missed you. How long will you be here?” asked  Darlene.

“I don’t think I’m coming back to the States.” Answered Diane.

“Yanni!” yelled Mykim.

“Mykim, I missed you.”

“Let’s meet up later?” Darlene said with a big smile on her face.

“Sure, but first I have to unpack by things.” Replied Diane. She turned her back and headed back home.  Unpacked her bags and arranged her things.

In the midst of arranging her things, she saw her old diary. Shocked to what she saw. She opened it and read a few pages, suddenly tears began to fall down her cheeks. She remembered all the bad memories that happened when she was still young. She was willing to change her life for the betterment of her life and prioritise her studies.

The door slowly opened and somebody knocked, it was Darlene. Darlene came in and sat down at the end of the bed. Holding her phone in her hand she looked around the room and remembered the old days, when they were just 10 years old they used to hang out in that same room and just have fun. But now everything changed. They were teen – agers now, has a lot of problems, school work and many more.
