An origin story of sorts, where Levi and Light have their first full on interaction.

Prom. End of senior year, most describe it as a magical and fun experience, while others think it to be quite dull and uninteresting.

Light’s never been to prom, but telling from the other school dances, this one probably wasn’t going to be all that impactful. He planned on staying home and not going, but his mother insisted. Alex -Light’s sister- went to prom with all of her friends and came back saying she had a great time, and their mother would always bring that up when trying to convince Light to go.

Sure, Light thought, I’m sure it was the fact she had friends to hang out with, not the prom itself, but whatever.

Despite declining over and over again, his mother insisted, and he eventually caved.

Besides the fact he thought prom was uninteresting, he was also trying to avoid her. A girl with ginger hair and a sweet smile, a girl named Charli. She could be a bit obsessive, and had done nothing but begged him to go to prom with her.  Uncomfortable with her incessant infatuation, he deemed it wouldn't be worth it, so Light refused.

Multiple times.

He's not the greatest under pressure, so he was glad that his rejections were eventually enough to get Charli to give up and just ask out her best friend, Luca. But now that he's going to prom, he’ll have to not only sit around in boredom, (because as much as he enjoys dancing, the songs they play aren’t quite to his taste) but he won't have anyone to hang out with there.

Sure, there was Sora, but Sora already was taking someone, a guy he’s been crushing on since sophomore year named Jaxx. He was a little older than them and graduated high school a year ago, but as long as the guest was under the age of 20 and previously attended the school, they were allowed to be invited. With Sora going out with the guy he’s crushed on for 3 years, Light didn’t want to disturb that.

So, he begged Alex to come along so he’d have someone to talk to there. It took some convincing, but she finally agreed, as long as she could bring a friend along too.

When questioned about the friend, she just smiled and said, “You know him, he’s my age. I mean, c’mon, what if Charli comes around? I’ll have to distract her somehow. You’ll be able to talk to him in the meantime!”, completely ignoring the fact despite being an extroverted and loud person, Light has close to zero social skills.

But he knew the guy, right? Light’s met a couple of Alex’s friends, never really got close or attached to any, but maybe he’d be able to talk to them about whatever Alex is up to? He didn’t know. He sucked at socializing, was never the perfect social butterfly his sister was.

And before he knew it, here he was, in his mom’s car with his sister in the dress she wore the previous year. Light was in a tux, he begged for a lilac one. If he was going to be forced to go, he might as well go in style.

Well, in his style at least.

By the time they pulled up and began walking towards the school, Light couldn't tell whether he should attempt to feign excitement, or let his nervousness and unethusiasm shine through. He didn't have time to decide as Alex grabbed him by the arm, facing him towards her so she could fix his shirt collar.
